I Finally Get My Hands On A Pair Of Puma Fast-R3’s – My Shoe Of Choice For Chicago & London Marathon

First up I take on a fartlek session of 3mins on, 3mins off for 60minutes of running, followed by a trip to Start Fitness in Newcastle to collect my new race Puma Fast-R3 shoes. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this shoe and delighted to get hold of a pair on the latest colourway drop.
I also chat about my super shoe calculator which I’ve developed on my Race Calendar website, you can view the calculators here-

  1. What do you use for HRM? Chest strap like the polar H10? If doing sessions based on HR I guess you want accurate as possible. Found my watch (wrist based optical) has got terrible over time in comparison, optical arm ones (verity sense, coros) are decent but all have a delay vs ecg

  2. Love the calculator! Its a discussion point as im not sure on the percentages. I still race in vf2s from 2024 and got most of my pbs in them although had a year of racing in sen 8s…your calculator suggests that may not have been a good move!

  3. The problem you now have is you wont want to use any other super shoe with those! How about a fast parkrun in them?
