  1. Even as a Redwings fan, this made me emotional. This guy was such a great leader for the Hawks. I remember back when the Hawks were a dumpster fire in the early 2000s and then they drafted Toews and then afterwards Kane. Something told me he would do for the Hawks what Yzerman did for us. I believe as far as leadership he was the best captain during his era. Just a great leader and person.

  2. Sorry to see Jonathan go. I was so proud of him from the first time I heard of him when he scored those shoot out goals on the world stage. A fabulous, gracious hockey player.

  3. What an up and down season we have had with everything from history being made to legends quitting their careers and we are only just starting the playoffs. Thank you Toews for your years, greetings from a Pens fan!

  4. The curtain has come down on the era of my daughter's idols. What a run. Oh yes you are worthy of this Mr. Toews.

  5. Won't lie seems like the hawks are going to go through patch for these next few years.. it's like they're trying to curse themselves why get rid of Toews? Makes no logic. They need a veteran who can teach their youth the ropes. He is the last player of that franchise to have won those Stanley cups… it's truly mind boggling at this point they could change their hockey team name nobody would even give a single flying f*ck

  6. End of a Era of hockey Crosby Ovy Backstrom Kane Letang Burns they're all getting older and are all a part of a generation of still youthful fans .. I'm 25 and all these players were part of me growing up into being a adult

  7. Not sure if he's gonna continue playing due to his health issues but if he does probably a good idea to get the hell outta Chicago. Same with Kane. Blackhawks used to be the big bad. The op team. Now they are just a sad loosing team who can't get it together.

  8. And this departs the least member of the Old Guard. The Captain that ignited the new dynasty.

  9. I’m not a Chicago fan but this really is a bittersweet end of a hockey era. One that put Chicago back on the map after the team looked like the current hawks team in terms of performance. Thanks for the memories captain serious can’t wait for your number to go up on the rafters and be rightfully retired never to be worn again.

  10. Its sad watching all the players I grew up watching slowly fade out of the league. They gave us some spectacular moments.

  11. I love that they used the Avs announcer's reaction to that goal. Goal was so amazing even the other teams announcers were going nuts.

  12. Unreal player in his prime. As a Leafs fan this is such a sad yet beautiful moment for hockey.

  13. What's the NHL gonna do now about their outdoor games with the Penguins, Caps and Hawks all in the dumps when we know every outdoor game has to have either the Penguins, Caps or Hawks?

  14. I’m glad to have grown up in such an amazing era in such an amazing sport, thank you Toews, thank you for giving such an amazing moment, from a Vancouver fan, we will never forget slaying the dragon.
