  1. I wouldn’t trade Blueger for anything less than a 2nd. 30% of 1st round picks would dream to have a career like Blueger. Considering what Tampa gave up for Jeannot a few years ago. I was honestly surprised there wasn’t more interest around Blueger at the tdl. One of my favourite 3rd line centers in the league for awhile

  2. Watching Braeden Cootes play the second half of the season/first two rounds of the WHL playoffs for my hometown team has been awesome! He’s been a standout player on an already top tier junior team. Overall it’s a well balanced and well coached team, but when he’s on the ice, he plays a controlled 200ft game, while also scoring goals with an NHL caliber shot! The Canucks have a legit leader/hard working potential second line center prospect in this player. They need to be patient with, Cootes, and also all the other young stars and prospects. Committing to a slow/calculated rebuild is what this team/fan base has needed for a long time.

  3. I like the play of Rossi, the team looks more dangerous with him. Boeser looks different, almost happy dare I say and playing hard.
The flashes Buium shows, I mean, that goal he scored after skating through players, splitting the defense to then score was something I can't remember Hughes doing! And he plays on the boards, which was an area of concern for Hughes, in the playoffs against Nashville, then Edmonton where he was getting pushed around.
How cool is this though?!? The Canucks are guaranteed a top 3 player, then the other high picks…We'll get to see these young players in a couple years really come around, and add more to the pool with next year's draft.
I'd like to see them draft a hard-nosed type who's fast and hits hard. A pest type player that the Canucks haven't had in awhile.. I guess Zadorov and Joshua come to mind. Not that the team is soft. Douglas is a great addition.
Piece by piece the rebuild…it'll be fun to watch!

  4. While I like what I have seen in recent weeks of the leadership shown by Hronek, Boeser and Blueger, I think the fortunes of this team still lies with where EP40's head is… I don't expect that guy to return to the 100-point offensive threat that he was, but he can somehow learn to actually have fun again on the ice, and become a point-per-game player, then this team may actually be able to be competitive sooner rather than later. Of course, the other albatross for the team is Demko, who I consider to be damaged goods now. How can the team replace him?
