This is his 6th Team and he must have been great MANY times!
Woo Hoo, Tocchet for the Adams Trophy. Kind of strange where to me it seemed that Roy had the pulse of this team that really did not change much just had a super rookie who changed how the team played This team probably would not have done as well without Roy. And I don't think this team is a contender yet. As delusional as Vancouvers management. Traded everything away thinking the team was close to the cup when we were not. When they lose out in the first round will there be buyers remorse?
Its not like Deboer got fired before because of goaltending related issue right?…. right?
The Isles are an aging team. Most of their top players are over 30. Patrick Roy would be a great fit for a reconstruction, since he has extensive junior coaching experience. This change of coach tells me the Isles are not considering a rebuild in the near future… Being given the first draft pick last year might be a disaster in disguise. They might be overestimating their potential.
Wait a minute. It seems to me that Deboar had great players on his teams in SJS, Vegas and Dallas. That's definitely a contributing factor to his success as a coach. Let's see what the next 4 years bring (?)
Debore coached teams with good players!!!! Smoke and mirrors guy
So glad this team is gonna be defense first again!
Dump a coach with four games left just to squeak in and play Carolina??????
Isles knew they were getting Schaef when they traded Schaef
We can speculate all we want, but only time will tell if this was the right move. While I think Roy did a good job given the talent on the roster, something had to change and this was the easiest thing for Darche to do at this point of the season. Roy was Lamariello’s guy, not Darche’s so when DeBoer expressed mutual interest, Darche took him before he became available to more teams at the end of the season.
