If Devils are thinking about it, they should move sooner than later because it would not surprise me if Shanahan replaces Yzerman if Detroit misses again

Shanahan fired Lou. Mistake number one.
He gave The Core Four everything they wanted before they had accomplished anything and then surrounded them with crap players. Mistake number two.
He hired Mike Babcock. who completely sewered Mitch Marner, Johann Franzen, Chris Chelios, and others and then went on to screw Columbus. Mistake number three.
I don't have a suggestion, but this can't be the choice. Fitzy's only mistakes were to overpay Hamilton and Palat and give them NMC's and he was at least smart enough not to give up Nemec for Quinn Hughes.
