Pre-Game Report: Edmonton Oilers vs Ottawa Senators

Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the Edmonton Oilers return home to Roger’s Place to take on the Ottawa Senators for the second and final time this season. Ottawa is fighting for the playoff lives, while the Oilers look to make up ground in the Pacific Division. Newly acquired d-man Connor Murphy won’t play, so it’ll have to be a committed 60 minute effort tonight from everyone. I break it all down including stats, players to watch, lineups, keys to the game, and more in today’s Preview! #oilers #edmontonoilers #nhl

  1. Murphy…needs to be in…we are running out of time and games…..4th in the Pacific! WTF! Coaches and Manager need to go!

  3. Ok, I'll give Nurse a little credit because it turns out his wife gave birth on Saturday. Sounds like he was more responsive in his interview today. The fact that they are in a WC spot is insane. Time for some accountability from everyone

  4. Best place to come for information about the Oilers going into game time. I hope to see something great out of the new defense pairings. I like Whalman up playing with Bouch.

  5. I’m 0-4-1 for the games I’ve been to this season. I’m not superstitious, but I’m not going to any more regular season games

  6. "Oilers' Darnell Nurse: 'I'm minus 12 and have 20 points, I'm not happy at all'

Yeah all Oiler fans think this also lol.

  7. Wish I could have faith but it’s just hard to believe. I hope so at least, let’s go oilers they need to string some wins

  8. I think everyone needs to chill out on Darnell Nurse a bit.

Yeah, he’s made some obvious mistakes, but I went back and watched the highlights against San Jose and paused it and watched frame for frame, and there were multiple rough plays from Jake Walman that nobody seems to be talking about.

On one sequence he’s standing right in front of Ingram with the puck and has a clean chance to clear it… and instead he just puts it right back into danger. They end up scoring. If you pause the replay you can literally see teammates throwing their hands up like “what are you doing?”

Another play he sends the puck right back toward Ingram, forcing him to make a second save, and the rebound gets buried. He’s also completely screening his own goalie on that sequence.

Point is: mistakes are happening all over the ice, not just from Nurse. The pile-on is getting a bit ridiculous. Honestly I’m glad they’re separating that pair.

Also, Ingram gets his stick caught up with an Edmonton player on one of the plays. That part isn’t really anyone’s fault it’s just an unfortunate mistake on Ingram’s part. But Wallman literally skates RIGHT past Ingram’s stick afterward. He could have easily grabbed it or at least slid it back to him quickly, and he just… doesn’t.

Obviously we all know what happens next ..Ingram panics trying to get his stick back and Celebrini scores. Yes, Ingram messed up there, but Wallman did absolutely nothing to help him in that situation.

Seriously, I really encourage people to rewatch the highlights and pause it at these moments. Some of these are really rough plays that are getting completely ignored.

I find it interesting how quick everyone is to blame Nurse. I think it’s because Nurse’s mistakes are more obvious, but honestly some of Wallman’s have been worse. If you pause the clips you can actually see teammates getting frustrated !!! McDavid even throws his hands up on one play when Wallman has the puck on his stick and still can’t clear it.

Honestly, Wallman’s play just hasn’t been good enough. He did the same kind of thing to Skinner & picks earlier too instead of helping the goalie out, he’s actually been making things harder on them.

    LET’s GO OILERS!

  9. San Jose has games in hand and it'll be tough to stay ahead of them. The Oilers are going to have to beat out Utah, Nashville, and LA to make it in. We play both Utah and Nashville before the season ends which are must win games. This Ottawa game is more or less a must win too and is one of the rare "easy" games left on the schedule that we have at home. We know there's no actual easy games at this point but the Oilers have a lot of difficult opponents coming up down the stretch against top teams. Carolina, Vegas 3 times, Colorado twice, Dallas, Tampa, Florida, etc.

  10. Here's hoping that they can get a win, even if it's a low score, a win is a win. They need to give fans some actual hope.

  11. This team needs to turn this around NOW. Not next game. Enough excuses, everyone needs to elevate and do their job.

  12. Oilers have a Connor at all the positions: goalie, forward, and now defence. They are pretty much unstoppable now. They are ready for a Stanley Cup run!

  13. I have hope…but that said I also just heard from a bartender in the ICE district that a small group of Senators were out drinking last night 😂

  14. There's talk that fox wants out of NYR now. So if they are going all out rebuilt we need to send whatever it takes for Sheshterkin

  15. Austin;you have a wonderful way to present the info; passionate and articulate including all info I want. thx
