Montreal Canadiens trade defenceman Justin Barron to Nashville for defenceman Alexandre Carrier. The Canadiens used the 2nd round pick in the original Barron acquisition for Lehkonen to acquire Michael Hage in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

Bla bla bla Drew…Hage will likely be a good player but I really don't see him as a futur top2 NHL center. Montreal will draft one next summer with their top5 to top9 pick…if they don't win the Schaefer/Misa lottery. This is wishful thinking because of Dach's problems !!!
Finally a real right handed Dman that is much needed
Basically, we gave Arturi away😢
This guy replaces Savard when they trade him. He is even from Quebec. Perfect!
I was never a fan of Barron. Good trade.
Barron probably never even heard your criticism
Was awkward cuz it wasn’t really funny
Losing kovacevic was to make room for Maillioux or reinbacher, maillioux still needs another year and reinbacher was hurt
Carrier is Bouillion without the fighting. He'll be great in the 3rd pairing and PK when Mailloux & Reinbacher are top4 studs. Great foresight. Matheson & Carrier will be a solid top pairing. Finally taking presure of Guhle to not only play offside but up in the lineup. Carrier will be a great balance for Matheson's offesne. Able to play 22 mins effectively.
Great reminder how part of the Lehks deal led to us getting Hage.
Matheson and Hutson
Savard and Xhekaj
Carrier and Guhle
What do they do with Struble?
I can't stand all the people saying they lost the Lekohnen trade. He was leaving Montreal and not resigning. People forget that. Barron unfortunately never panned out. I thought Maillioux was better at camp. Either way hope the new guy stabilizes the D a bit. They have so many picks coming and not enough contract spots. Go Habs
The mistake was trading Kovacevic. He was the most solid piece they had.
Trade makes perfect sense and I think the GM did a great job on asset management so far. Just continues to impress in my opinion. This trade opens up the Savard trade. Looking forward what we can get for him soon. now i would like to see Dobes in.
Oh yea I totally forgot about Reibacher
Seems fishy this Carrier kid has nothing special no upside, not physical and not offensive. They basically gave Baron away for notjing
Savard should not be traded to anywhere in east. West to Oil.RNH and 1st 2025. Gallagher also. Oilers need to win now.
We had a solid right D man in Kovacevic who couldn play strong bottom 6 mins. He can chip in (as showed in NJ) and is a big guy. We lost him only to get someone to replace him lol
Another little guy. Just what they needed.
alexandre carrier its a french name
Hughes is playing some 3D Chess.
Takes team work it's not like he was helping Nashville stinking so bad. He's a hockey player.
It's just a case of wrong place at the wrong time. Had Justin Barron come up to a well established blueline, the likes of which the team has had for numerous contending rosters, he would have been a welcome addition. Had he come up to a team with a solid, veteran defense corps, his puck carrying skills could have been put to better use and his defensive deficiencies could have been better insulated. It's like Chris Chelios, when he was first brought up, he was paired with Larry Robinson. Big bird told him, you can carry the puck any time you want, I'll cover you. Can't do much better than that!!! This kid (barron) can play and any team that is in need of offense from the back end could use him. I hope he does great!!
The problem with Barron, was that he was purely an offensive defensemen, terrible in our end especially when pressured, with Mallioux and DR , coming he was expendable, yes perhaps we should have kept JK, but we are getting a guy who played 20 minutes on a pretty good team last yr.
But,…. I thought you stopped doing these videos!!!
Atta boy, DD! A fair assessment ~ Barron was given every chance to take the bull by the horns, and even scored a few big goals, but was never able to progress defensively. While his offensive potential is there, with guys like Hutson, Mailloux, and even Reinbacher, Barron's defensive weaknesses made him expendable. Carrier is a true defenseman and should bring some level of competence on the right side of the back end. Glad to see you back in action, my man!
i dont think trading Kovacevic was a mistake, they just give Barron the space to prove himself..it didn't work and then turn around and trade for a replacement until Mailloux , Reinbacher are ready.
I agree with you … Barron was a liability in our own zone, he lacks physicality to his play and could easily be replaced.
Is Carrier the answer? … time will tell but I trust in our management's judgment.
You were harsh on JB while he was here, but nonetheless correct. This is yet another Hughes masterpiece.
……………………….WOW !!! ….I always liked Baron…..he deserves to play with a top tier franchise ……
