The Next Day: Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks Game 1 Thoughts
After a tough night in Vancouver, Dolynny TV has some thoughts on what happened in Game 1 for the Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks Round 2 Stanley Cup Playoffs series. #EdmontonOilers #Oilers #VancouverCanucks #Canucks #NHL
Long post follows. Read / Don't Read up to you. Statistics for Round 2 Playoff Game 1 Edmonton at Vancouver May 8th, 2025. These are "Base" statistics and are simply a foundation for reference.
Edmonton Oilers
Hyman 2 Goals (1 on PP)
Ekholm 1 Goal
Ceci 1 Goal
Nuge 1 Primary Assist (on PP), 1 Secondary Assist
Draisaitl 1 Primary Assist, 1 Secondary Assist (on PP)
Ryan 1 Primary Assist
Bouchard 1 Primary Assist
McDavid 1 Secondary Assist
Skinner 19 Saves on 24 Shots = .792 Save %age (really bad), 57 minutes played
Vancouver Canucks
Joshua 1 Goal, 2 Primary Assist
Lindholm 1 Goal, 1 Secondary Assist
Miller 1 Goal
Zadorov 1 Goal, 1 Secondary Assist
Garland 1 Goal
Cole 1 Primary Assist
Soucy 2 Secondary Assists
Boeser 1 Primary Assist
Blueger 1 Primary Assist
Hoglander 1 Secondary Assist
Silovs 15 Saves on 18 Shots = .833 Save %age (not great), 60 minutes played
This was a pretty high event game. Leon got hurt. The Oilers "stopped" playing really in the 2nd period. Skinner was pretty awful and the guys in front of him didn't help. PP at 100% (one PP), PK at 100% (on 3 PP's by Vancouver). Special teams Oilers won. The Oilers really shouldn't have won this game (and they didn't). Oh on the score sheet it looked great at times BUT it was like Bouch couldn't make a pass at a "woman of the night" with a roll of $50's (even though he got a primary assist), Nurse / Ceci pairing was not great (though Ceci Scored). A lot of my negatives seem to also have attached positives. Perry is invisible out there and maybe needs to make room for someone who will work. Ryan played well. Honestly McDavid didn't play up to his standard and, again, Leon got hurt just over 1/2 way into the 2nd period. While Janmark played "okay" they REALLY Missed Henrique. Hopefully the Leon situation can be resolved fairly quickly (and Henrique) but we'll see. Take care all.
You have to show up for a full 60 minutes to win. Or atleast show up longer then the other team. And the canucks are finding ways to win without Peterson having any real impact.
this game had really poor goaltending and if there's anything to draw from this it's that Canucks need Demko and the oilers need (insert name).Regardless the Canucks dominated for the final 2 periods were full value for the win –just like the previous 4 games. If neither team gets quality netminding then it's anybodys guess what will happen but I like Canucks structure and coaching over the oilers .That was fun let's see what friday brings

hey oiler fans…WHOSE YOUR DADDY? ITS THE N.Y ISLANDERS AND VANCOUVER CANUCKS
Sloppy game top line where not playing maybe see 3 players playing
Nurse and Ceci were brutal!
Brutal
8-0 Canucks vs Oilers 2023/24 🤛🏻🤛🏻🤛🏻
Well not surprised. They haven't had s collapse in awhile. Like to see ernie and Gagne back in line up
Edmonton still doesn’t know skinner sucks
LOOOOL bro when you gonna admit you need a BIG save to win in the playoffs and skinner rarely ever provides that………….
Even when we were up by 3 points, I felt like we were the worse team.
credit where it is due: Canucks did what they had to in order to win and held the Oilers to almost no shots from the mid point of the game to the end.
goaltending was sub par at both ends
Skinner gonna let you down
The game is 60 minutes long. That's why they play it.

Didn’t really like yanmark on the top line hopefully Henrique will be back
SKINNER SUCKS… SO DOES NURSE
One game means nothing really 😂showcase
