Bruins & Leafs both got away with a ton this game. Missed high sticks and hooks by Toronto for the first few, missed holds/trips/dive by Boston toward the end. I'm with you on the Bert/Marchand it should have been dead with offsetting roughing at least, Marchand Trips, Bert nearly does a front flip to embellish, but the issue isn't with the goaltender (BTW, the goaltending disparity isn't a "consistency" thing, the Bruins just outright own that category), its that the Leafs D let Freddy walk down main street uncontested because IDK Thank you? Mcavoy got called for the forearm to the face later in the game, he didn't "slam his head into the ice" the dude was already flat on his back from a great check Steve. McAvoy didn't get called for a hold/hook on Matthews because for one of the supposed "best" skaters in the league (who's bigger than McAvoy) he sure does fall down easily at any hint of contact. The penalty on Lorei for hooking Tvares was pretty weak, boards wrapped the stick and Tvares really just got out muscled. I agree, Mcavoy took a dive at the end, and that was timely because the Leafs were behind, but the Freddy goal that should have been blown dead (agree again, for offsetting roughing minors), was only "timely" because the Bruins scored afterward! the Refs didn't have foreknowledge that that was going to happen! The penalty the Leafs took which lead to a Debrusk goal was so timely too! Because Debrusk converted! If the Leafs scored on any of their 5 PP opportunities, those calls may have felt "Timely" from the other perspective! And Sheldon Keefe complaining about the bruins getting calls after a loss is the most Leafs thing ever. Thicken your skin a bit and you may be able to hack it in Juniors next year little guy!
Hot take here: there is too much of an emphasis on skill with this team. Their puck management and collective work rate are awful
Dude, bitching about the refs for a whole video is really lame. Two guys wrestling behind the play did not cause the goal. The Leafs got away with all kinds of stuff (including crap not during play). The refs didn't cause you the game.

I think it was horrible reffing both ways way too inconsistent but the difference isn't that Toronto got it at "the worst time" and Boston at "the best moments" it is that those moments for Boston were the best because they capitalized on it and Toronto couldn't do anything with their opportunities which made them appear like worse opportunities

Steve I enjoyed you take on the game, Where was Matthews all night, Why are you stuck on the TORONTO refs when the Leafs had no game 2 team speed. Leafs best players came out flat, and you said they played great. As for Marsh, Keefes team allowed a 38 year old player to not only jam with anyone out on the ice but be the difference maker in the third period. Coaches who know hockey need to manage players like Bertucci better and have. Claude Lemieux, Kenny Linesman, dirtbags who can change a game because they not only agitate but they can score. Keefe wined about experienced players getting breaks. Yet he allowed Marshy to influence arguably the Leafs hardest working player on the ice in Bertucci. Leafs didn’t get jobbed they were schooled and played right into that experience players hands.
Steve, what are you smoking. If Willy is back, why would Bertuzzi drop to PP2? He has been the only dangerous player on the PP. It should be Tavares or Marner, they don't deliver on the PP.

To me, Samsonov looked distracted by what was happening at center and the lack of a call (if not thinking there had been a whistle) before Frederic scored. Hell, everyone seemed distracted by that except Frederic. Not an excuse, as you should play to the whistle, but might help explain why that one went in.

Everyone hates the refs, in every sport, but few people could actually do their job. We see obvious calls because of TV coverage and replays…but do we ever consider that the refs attention might be elsewhere? If you don't see it, you can't call it…and there is a lot going on, a lot of players moving quickly, and easy to miss things…especially things happening behind the flow of play.
Imagine having 10 minutes straight of powerplay and not scoring?!!??
