[Johnston] Jim Montgomery is not a fan of the scheduling in the #bruins/#leafs series: “I would have rather been here Thursday/Saturday, if I’m being honest. I think we’re spending more time in Toronto than Toronto’s spending in Boston and we’re the home team.”

Right out of the Jon Cooper playbook of “complain about something irrelevant to deflect from the team’s poor play”

  2. DangleCellySave

Who’d rather spend more time in Boston anyway

  3. Soggy_Specific4093

Toronto is the only east team that had two days off before game one and ended on the road with a back to back btw

(Everyone else had three besides the Islanders but their last game was at home and didn’t play the day before)

Ahahahaha this is new one. What a whiner, that’s pathetic bud.

  5. If Jim promises to lose the series, I promise to feel really bad about the injustice here.

    Simple solution to this problem.

    Leafs in 5.

More home games for Bruins than Leafs AND Montgomery can stay in Boston for the next 5 months straight.

  7. Neutral-President

Kind of surprising that they *aren’t* playing Thursday instead of Wednesday, given that the Celtics are also playing tonight.

Boo-fuckity-hoo. Already making excuses for your team…the mark of a coach who isn’t sure about his club

  9. I don’t know how he figures. It’s not like the Leafs landed in Boston the day of game 1. They were there for a few days prior.

  10. Dry-Honeydew2371

Well draw bigger TV numbers than the Leafs then.

  11. sportsywebe

You WERE the home team Jimmy. You lost that the moment you lost game 2.

  12. Cdnraven

First of all that doesn’t even add up.

In Toronto – 3 game days plus 1 day before games 3 and 6 plus 2 days between game 3-4 = 7 days

In Boston – 4 game days plus 1 day before games 1 and 7 plus 2 days before game 5 plus 1 day between game 1-2 = 9 days

I would rather Jim Montgomery eat shit and die but here we are

  14. typesomethin

I definitely was anticipating two days between game 2 and 3 and again between 4 and 5 (for 3 Saturday night games). Not between 3 and 4 then 4 and 5

  15. waldoorfian

They are not the “home team”. They have home ice advantage if it goes 7 games. That’s all.

  16. I think the argument is stupid, but I am kind of surprised that we are playing today instead of tomorrow. It seems like having 2 days off between games makes more sense for travel between Boston/Toronto than between Game 3/4.

It’s really a shame that the Bruins don’t appreciate all this city has to offer. I’ll be sure to use my auto dialer to call them all and let them know, every 6 minutes, between the hours of 10PM and 6AM.

I get it, this is totally built around hockey night in canada. Tough luck you guys like the Celtics and Red Sox more so scheduling doesn’t revolve around the bruins.

This exact thing happened to the Leafs last year. Suck it up.

  20. __TheWaySheGoes

Actually Jim you lost being the home team when you didn’t win both Game 1 and 2

  21. Spare-Notice-224

Breaking. Morgan Reilly suspended 5 games for those comments

  22. Deluxechin

Okay, but like Boston is a 2 hour flight from Toronto and a 7 hour drive, you can go home if you don’t want to stay in Toronto for the 2 day break

  23. NotFrankZappaToday

Or, hear me out, Jim: You could just do your job and not complain.

  24. CMDRShepardN7

I hope the weather is extra cold and miserable for you, Jim. And you somehow step of a lego, or wet dog poo.

  25. JRocleafs

I love the mental war fare in the playoffs.

Honestly though, having the Leafs play on Saturday night is the best thing for the NHL. It’s about time the biggest draw in the league gets prime time. It’s exactly how you grow the game and draw fans

Leafs went to Boston right after their last game of regular season so this ain’t remotely true, but whatever. Someone better get him a tissue

  27. trevlarrr

He realises they don’t play a game on the extra day in the city, right? Seems like someone’s looking for excuses already!
