Wyatt Johnston scores twice and has a three point night in a 6-3 win for the Dallas Stars over the San Jose Sharks. The Stars have now won five straight games and Johnston is the best player on the Stars. He has reached another level of stardom and with his two goals last night, he tied Mike Modano for most goals in a season series vs San Jose. Also, Jamie Benn’s heater continues. With his goal last night, Benn has scored in five straight games which is his longest since 2014. Him and Johnston are a duo that is giving glimpses of Tyler Seguin and Benn during their primes. Who would have thought with nine games to go, the Stars would have a chance at the Presidents Trophy. Dallas trails just one team in the NHL and has not one the trophy since 1999. It certainly does not guarantee playoff success, but would be something to add to the rafters. Would you even want the Stars to win the President’s Trophy?? To finish off today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey talks about the Stars domination of the Pacific Division this season and what has lead them to success. They have two games remaining on the road trip against Vancouver and Seattle with a chance to improve a 13-3-4 record this season.

The Stars are looking good, right now!
Goal tending is a major issue right now and if it isn't fixed it doesn't matter how well the rest of the team is performing, but congrats to Jamie and Wyatt for their performance this season, keep it up.
The boys are rollin' and those were a huge 2 pts to pick up last night going into the matchup against the Nucks.
I need to walk back some of the criticism I have shown to our Captain, Jamie Benn. This dude is on a serious heater and playing out of his mind. He is scoring from all spots and coming up huge the last few weeks. His defensive tenacity has picked up significantly and has laid some huge hits.
All the right players seem to be heating up at the right time. Robo was on his game and both his goals were wicked shots. You have Mason Marchment….that move and goal he scored last night was insanely gorgeous.
Then you have the phenom Mr Wyatt Johnston, Holy Shnikes!! This dude is a beast and is such a joy to watch. Every time he rushes the net the chances he scores are very high. He is magical around the net and holds off defenders at ease. He has speed and is a brick wall to move off the puck.
Now it's a fine line ; In if they want to win out and take the Division and Conference to take the Presidents Trophy, or do they hold back some and play for a better 1st round opponent.
Is tanev what we thought he was going to be? Improvement over Hakanpaa for sure but I don't really like his game.
Tanev will improve as the season winds up. OUR PROBLEM IS THE LACK OF ELITE GOALTENDING (that we were all counting on earlier in the season)
I have been very critical of Benn because i have now seen him do this same thing in about 4 of the last 5 seasons (last year the exception). I do not appreciate him taking so many nights off during the first 4 months of the season, even though i know he is getting a bit older and his hips are not what they used to be. BUT, to be fair he always elevates and engages in the last month or two leading to playoffs, and i think it's fair to say the cup is the only thing that motivates him (along with mentoring Wyatt and Logan). He immediately elevated his play when Stank joined the lineup. And of course he still has a fantastic shot and can create all kinds of havoc and chances when he wants to. Hopefully he can/will keep the pedal to the metal through June! And no more suspensions in the playoffs!
