Hello Mr Gawlik. Thanks for always making this podcast worth listening to despite ……………. Here's a very interesting point to consider about the craftiness of Kelly McCrimmon. I have noticed in years past that The Genius places his blockbuster trades just a mere few minutes before the 3pm deadline cutoff. He has done this multiple times – it's a clear pattern. Why is that? Why just a few minutes before 3 pm? Why? Because McGenius is 'playing chicken' with the GM on the other side of the trade. A few days ago, Elliott Friedman mentioned this interesting McCrimmon tactic. This occurred in the Hertl trade. McCrimmon lowballs the other GM (Grier, SJ) in the proposed trade between the teams and then goes silent, waiting out the other GM. With only minutes to go until 3 pm, the other GM 'blinks' and accepts McGenius' lowball offer. Friedman concurred that this is McCrimmon's tactic – lowball, then wait out the other GM. Not only is he a genius, he's got nerves of steel, and yes, don't play poker with McCrimmon. 😊
It’s been 31 years since a Canadian market has won Cup. This is the sport there and here in Vegas you have a Canadian born GM winning in yet another American expansion venue. Of course the savvy bold strokes by McCrimmon are fodder for the daily pundits North of here.
I believe KM meant they could have used retention to acquire assets last year (like they did this year). Though it would have cost more in what they gave up.

In case you fellas have forgotten, there's something called "retention." They could've easily bought retention on Barbashev and Quick if it was needed. We currently have Noah freaking Hanafin for 1.25 million. Couldve got Quick for similar and Barbashev for less than league min. Count in any pieces going back, options like waiving one of the eight defensemen or 14 forwards we were carrying, they could have EASILY made those trades without Stone being on LTIR. All they did was save some picks.
The conspiratorial angle is what’s sucking the life out of this show. 😂
