INTERVIEW: Patrick Kane goes from Hockeytown villain to helping Red Wings create new era of success

Patrick Kane was perhaps one of the top villains in Hockeytown, putting an end to a great era of Red Wings hockey when he played with the Blackhawks.

Now on the other side of the rivalry, the future Hall of Famer is helping the Red Wings make a playoff push. And he’s loving the experience.

  1. Don’t worry Kaner! You may have broke our hearts in the past but we’re loving you here and now! Keep him around Stevie! He may have lost a step but you can clearly see that no one wants to be made a fool of by him by the way they give him so much space! A bit like Datsyuk in his final years!

  2. This signing was supposed to replace a 20 goal scorer minimum. Plus accelerate DaBrincat. Once he hits 20 goals, then he will start helping. Still was waaaaay overpaid. Been watching the wings since the 80s dead wings. Dont see a difference. And que those that can't have a conversation about it. You'll recognize them as the ones hurling insults.

  3. As a Red Wings fan, I never had a problem with Kane, he’s been great through and through. Besides, the Detroit Chicago rivalry was before my time

  4. Kind of like Chris Chelios coming to Detroit 25 years ago. Wings fans hated him as part of the Chicago rivalry but the Wings reaped the benefits of his talent and leadership when he came to Detroit. He went from villain to fan favorite pretty quick, especially after getting in Todd Bertuzzi's head during the 2002 playoff series against Vancouver. I loved how a schoolyard insult of calling Bertuzzi "fat" completely negated the guy who was killing the Wings through the first two games. Chelios made him a non-factor for the remaining four games in the series which was worth every penny Detroit was paying him.
