That same look on his face after Oilers blew a 3-goal lead with a few minutes to go in game 5 against Anaheim, only to lose in OT to Corey Perry. Ducks went on to eliminate McDavid, while Perry has a Memorial Cup, WJC gold, Olympic gold, and a Stanley Cup. Looking back at that, it all made sense.
The lineup choices made by team Canada were ridiculous. Had the put Nuge, Hyman, Bouchard, Scheifele, Bennett, Eberle etc they would have had battle tested, proven, clutch players familiar with each other. Oilers power play (minus Leon) best P.P. in the world. Bennett to play with Marchand. Scheifele to play with any of them. Eberle who has an international history thats hard to beat. Connor carried that team on his back. He should be very proud of himself. Go Oilers Go
This Olympic team was built around Crosby. When he went down, everyone stepped up but it wasn't enough. And picking the worst goalie to in the NHL to be in net for the Olympics because of some good games he had over a year ago was lunacy. If the Oilers had invested some money on good goalies instead of terrible defensemen contracts, we would have two more cups in Edmonton.

McDavid tried to single handed tried to win it in OT twice and started a 2 on 1. Second time USA won. He is 100% at fault for losing in ot.
