Scouting report: he’s good.

Photos may be bad, but this guy is good. Hunter with another three point night (1G, 2A) leading the OHL in points, as the Kitchener Rangers beat the Owen Sound Attack.

Goodnight from Kitchener.

    From Daniel Wagner:

“*As a 15-year-old, Brzustewicz had 111 points in 66 games for the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies, the most ever by a defenceman in that league*”

“*For context, Quinn Hughes’ brother, Luke Hughes, who went on to be a first-round pick for the New Jersey Devils, had 83 points in 71 games in that league at the same age*.”

    But, also from Daniel Wagner:

“…*The prospect tournament also illustrated some of the weak areas of his game that need improvement, as he got beaten several times in the defensive zone*.”

For those that don’t know this already:

He was a really highly regarded prospect after the big season mentioned above. But, then had (I believe) a shoulder injury and missed most of that next season. He had committed to the USNDT program, but coming off the lost season due to injury, he kind of lost the role he expected to have to Lane Hutson and Seamus Casey (both of which are 2nd round picks, and smaller, highly regarded, pure offense type of d-men).

Hunter went to Kitchener because he figured it would give him a much larger role (and ice time) and he felt he needed that because of the 1 lost development season, and then followed up with the lack of ice time the season after.

Anyways, the point of me posting that is although he’s one of the older first time eligibles in this past draft, he might have some extra development runway because of what happened in his D-2 and D-1 seasons.
