It was a swift kick in the balls for me as a bolts fan 😢
just destroyed my fantasy team. I NEED HELP, who should I pick up: Korpisalo, Merzlikins, Vejmelka, Allen or Montembeault? Wins and shutouts get you points in my league.
I mean, when was the last time the Lightning played great in the first 2 months of the season to begin with? They regularly just sort of coast in 2nd gear until the all-star break anyway.
The Atlantic Division is the LEAFS division. They'll finish #1 with ease
Goalie market is very thin right now, pretty much all maybe back-ups and 3rd stringers. They'll probably be alright if they can play .500 hockey until Vasy returns but that's a pretty big ask depending who they sign or if they go with their back-up & 3rd stringer.
Rough preseason for the Bolts. 1st Stammer calls out the GM and now Vasy is out. Likely longer than they say imo and they should ease him into the lineup. Don't make him go from 0 to 100 after returning.
Nothing a little Jaroslav Halak can’t temporarily fix, make him work his potential cup as a 2nd/3rd goalie mercenary.
He won’t be a Vasy, but he will do a lot better than what Tampa got right now, he’s also not a stranger to being #1 goaltender even if only for a time.
If it goes well enough, maybe it will give additional time for Vasy to comeback at 100%.

Vasilevskiy being out might mean that the Lightning miss the 2024 playoffs, but I get the feeling they will come back like a bat out of hell for the 2025 playoffs. Similar to what happened going into the 2020 playoffs, after getting embarrassed in the 2019 playoffs

Vasi being out is devastating for the Bolts. He is their MVP, and impossible to replace. One target would be Vladar from Calgary, but I suspect they will immediately grab Martin Jones off waivers if they can. He comes off a good season with Seattle, and Tampa needs a solid back up goalie anyway. Maybe he can hold the fort until Vasi returns, and keep them in playoff contention.
