This contract has aged like fine wine

With the Dahlin situation today, it just goes to show how good Quinn’s deal turned out to be

Yes, but how many of those players signed a contract since Hughes? Older contracts always look better as time goes on because of the rising salary cap.

The cap is basically the same as when he signed it as well

Hopefully we donโ€™t waste his prime

  4. ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ I cant imagine how big his next one will be

  5. Darnell nurse holy shit stupid oilers. But good on him for getting the bag

  6. Hughes’ contract is good, but the two are in no way comparable.

Hughes’ contract walks him straight into UFA, encompassing all of, and only, his RFA years.

Dahlin’s contract *starts* in his last year as an RFA, meaning all but 1 of the 8 seasons are UFA years, and locks him up until he is 32.

A better comparable is Makar, who is a marginally better player and comes with 1 year of UFA control for 1.15M more per year.

It’s already year 3/6? Our Huggy Bear is growing up!

The contract is a steal, but to properly take advantage of this cap savings, we need to provide Hughes with support. I hope we can build a contender before Hughes needs a new contract.
