Norlinder has a year left on his NHL contract but he played in an SHL exhibition game the other day. He won't be back in Laval, and don't look for the Canadiens to re-sign him. Once considered a top-5 prospect in the system…he never adjusted to NA rinks and was passed by others

And now we’ve shifted the overhype to RHP and Xhekaj.
It’s a shame it hasn’t worked out but I find it annoying how people downplay how much he was hyped and say things like he was never that good. Just two years ago, he was #4 on the top 25 under 25 list ahead of Guhle and a lot of people saw him a as future top 4 D.
Now that he has fallen short of these perhaps unfair expectations, people dismiss how they hyped him so they can hype up the next prospect to unrealistic levels.
I’ve seen him play quite a lot in Laval, I was not a fan. Best of luck to him in the SHL though!

Good for him. Let him get back to basics without MTL distractions. There’s a lot players ahead of him at the moment so he won’t get any chances at showing what he can do. If he gets back on track for his development, wonderful. If not, we actually have too many prospects to ice so its not a loss.
That’s what happens when we hit for the fence, sometimes it busts but damn he was with the gamble where we picked him. With hindsight Zach Jones would’ve been nicer but oh well.

I think that Norlinder is our most hyped prospect of all time. Some of us had a very high expectation from him. What a pity ! After Nygren and Norlinder, I swear that I won’t set expectation high for Engstrom no matter how many higlighted goals he scores.
Swedes and Habs don’t mix well, unless his name is Naslund.
Guys, I’m starting to think that we won’t have a Josh Brook – Matias Norlinder Top Pair like predicted.
