They’re different players. Pastrnak is all about the goals and to some extent the points as well. Pettersson is more like Datsyuk with more offense in his game. Datsyuk benefited from playing in Detroit right at the tail end of their dominance, so he got more attention and Selke consideration that Pettersson ever will. But they’re more similar than Pettersson and Pasta. But for the purposes of active players, I like Pettersson’s overall game more. Having said that, in this league, goals matter more than anything and Pasta has been doing his thing for longer, so whatever David gets, Elias should get slightly less than that, but not significantly less.
Kyle mentioned that management needs to show Pettersson they are building a contender, and that Pettersson may not be overly impressed with the direction of the team.
If Pettersson is truly a franchise player, then it is his job to make the Vancouver Canucks a contender… I hope Pettersson doesn't feel like it's not his responsibility to lead this team to a Stanley Cup..!

The Hronek trade is still one of the worst. People don't understand that rather Hronek will be good or bad for the Canucks, it's still a lose lose situation. They need to resign EP to a big contract. Miller is going to have a big contract. They still have several overpriced contracts to big enough contracts. Hronek is going to be due for a huge raise if he is good next season. The cap is only going up by $1 million.
Unless they can trade away contracts, it's not going to be good. Not only that, it's never ever a good idea to tie huge contracts to just a few players or else you're going to have a pretty crappy support crew. Just ask Toronto this. The Nucks might become like the Leafs soon where they'll make the playoffs, but consistently lose in the first round.
Had they just drafted players and develop them, it'll save them from the constant cap hell they're always in. It's not like the Nucks were ever really a cup contender in the last 10 years. They were rarely even a playoff contender in those 10 years.

I disagree. I had Sieder on multiple fantasy teams, and he was hot garbage for the first 3/4 of the season and lost the PP1 spot to Hronek, who excelled. We'll see, I guess. Also, Mikheyev is one of the fastest players in the league and is defensively responsible, which is exactly what this team needs. Again, we'll see.

Honestly, if canucks pay Petey 11.5 for 8 and he keeps producing, it's a win. Better than a 3 or 4 year deal at under 10, setting him up for a bigger contract with longer term when we could be in contender times.
