Pittsburg missed the playoffs by one point and that loss in chicago at the end of the seaon is on their mind. non-stop. all summer long. thinking about that stupid loss in chicago.

Yes they only missed the playoffs by 1 point but if you look at there season as a whole it was just not good all around the whole team was up and down and look at who they lost to to miss the playoffs one of if not the worst team in the league ending the season.

I wonder if they haven't started too late. Ideally you want ro bring in one or two younger players per year and move out a few vets and you can keep it rolling. Maybe they should have been a bit more ruthless like Vegas.
Penguins should just tell Carter that he will be in the press box all season and I'd he doesn't like it then he can retire. They should buyout grandlund after you sign Drew O'Connor

Pittsburgh has too many older players. If they don't start getting younger, they are going to keep missing the playoffs.
We will see now if the Dubas effect drags down the Peng wings too.
Would of liked them to pick up a bottom six forward with a little more offensive upside. Hopefully Alex Nylander can suprise us.
Pens have become epic chokers, losing against 2 of the worst teams to not make the playoffs.
Before that, first round exits for the past 4 years. They had their moment, time to move on.
Adding Reilly Smith at 2 more years @5mil/season may have been a mistake because they're buying high on a player who just won the Cup. It makes the most sense for the Pens to add Karlsson to maximize Crosby/Malkin's remaining prime years. Karlsson is still playing like a franchise player but Reilly Smith is not really a top-6 forward anymore…

some of us that hate carter i dont think grasp that come 35 for a nhler they probably aint scoring how they used to. I dont mind carter i just think hes got a high cap hit and the nmc was not a good idea at that cap hit for an aging vet

Here are my thoughts on this.
I am a long time Pittsburgh penguins fan. I went to games at the igloo, watched them have horrible seasons and also watched them win Stanley cups. What hurts me is that a team that has been so competitive for so many years is relying on systems that aren’t working right now. While the additions are fine, I want to see the penguins be good for the next 10 years…. Not 2. As a penguins fan I feel as though we’re reaching a point where our team is slowly just going to be nothing anymore and end up at 32 in the standings.

Pretty tired and… yes, jealous of the Pens long time success. My hat off to them but they pretty much went from Mario Lemieux to Crosby. It's the same reason I didn't want Bedard to go to Chicago (Kane to Bedard). But the point being I'm hoping Dubas can do for the Pens what he did for Toronto. Better for the upcoming Buffalo Sabres….
I think they really need to trade for Karlson to become part of this final core for Pittsburgh.
A healthy Jarry could put them back in, but there are so many wildcard likely teams in the Atlantic and the top 3 in the Metro is likely to be the same as last season. Getting EK-65 might give them one last shot in the playoffs with LeTang, Crosby, and Malkin, but I'm not totally convinced.
