This is a desperate move by a desperate Montreal team. Newhook was given the opportunity to be the #2 center this year and it was a failure. The Avs had to move him while he still had any trade value. Montreal gave up way too many high picks for him.
newhook is an ancient Kent Hughes client as player agent so this trade made sens in term that Kent Hughes have go on a player who he's knowing. As you say Newhook is only 22 year old and dont have play really good time on ice. With MTL he will be able to have time on PP and PK.
