  1. Nah, they've got plenty of time imo. If these players are here, heart in or not they need to play for their next contract. If their stock goes up, that's good for them and for the Flames. Plus I really don't think we need to settle in a trade for a player like Hanifin. I've seen so many people suggesting that just cause a player wants out we pretty much have to take the L and dish him out right away – just cause he doesn't want to be here doesn't mean there aren't 15+ places he'd be happy to go and 15+ that should be driving the bidding. Conroy is right to wait for serious offers

  2. Johnny and Mathew didnt burn the flames . Bad management from Flames own it . and now here come the perpetual 20 year rebuild to try to get average

  3. Don’t sign them and don’t play them. Sit out the season. Get the point across really quick!

  4. And the 1st overall pick in the 2024 NHL entry draft belongs to the Calgary Flames

  5. You gotta trade Lindy and Hanifin, probably hold on to backlund for a while

  6. 1) Hanifin is the “soft sell” for the Calgary Flames for something tangible regardless if Flames are first, eighth, or at the bottom. But i would prefer to see Hanifin traded early than later. So hopefully it’s an offer that Conroy can feel at least a little comfortable with getting back.
    2) Lindholm wants to stay competitive, so this is Calgary’s way of attempting to be “competitive”. If players like Duehr, Pelletier, Huberdeau, etc go on massive hot streaks, it might be worth staying and seeing where it leads. But that’s my only thought for Lindholm. Too early to say what Lindholm is thinking.
    3) Backlund is in the same boat, but i would understand if he is seeking to chase a cup. So him being a “rental” depending if Calgary is outside the“wild card” position.

  7. I'm an Oilers fan but I've lived in Calgary for half my life and have lots of love and respect for the Flames fanbase. I hope the best for you all, Conroy better make a decision soon ✌️

  8. Calgary Flames can be patient all off season for the right deal. Wouldn't matter if a trade happens tomorrow or end of August that would be ideal if Noah Hanifin, Elias Lindholm or a Mikael Backlund don't want to sign a new deal after this season. Won't be ideal if it drags into the season and the team is looking like a contender at the trade deadline.

  9. You might get breakout play from both this season because they are playing for future contracts that are higher

  10. I don't think there's anything Conroy can do, every other team knows Lindholm has the Flames handcuffed as we have no one else close to being a #1 center. My only hope is that value for these guys is higher by the trade deadline.

  11. I don’t know why you say Conroy is waiting on Hanifin. That’s a done deal, Hanifin wants out of Calgary. There is no waiting for him. It’s up to Conroy to trade him. There is no changing his mind. Hanifin has told many that he doesnt like the city, not necessary the team itself.

  12. It’s funny because people always says that players don’t want to play in Edmonton but yet they have no problems attracting guys to come to Edm like Hyman and Connor Brown. The reality is that no one wants to play in Calgary. Even Sutter intentionally got himself fired than to coach here.

  13. It's the best way to keep a Canadian team down for years without much effort, just lag in your decisions like this, actively destroy your team for years like the Canucks management or overpay a few too early like Toronto and this is where it goes….watch them flock to an American market and flourish…it's the NHL way

  14. My suspicion is they’re trying to get trades set up but having trouble getting other teams to bite bc they know they’ll be free agents in a year anyway. A lot of teams that may trade for them might want extensions to make it worthwhile, and that would add an extra complicating layer.

  15. These guys are going to be hard to move given the flat cap this year. They are going to have to go into the season with these guys and trade during the season. I’d anticipate moves between November and January unless they want to stay and and actively working on contracts.

  16. I understand that we need to trade them to get something back for them. But put your self in the GM shoes. Where you need to know how the business worked in the NHL, where other clubs are against the cap. Conroy maybe looking for a trade but there might be hard to fine the right deal for the team. It is easily to trade players and them get screwed with that. Just look at last summers Tkachuk trade. How did that work for us? So there are good trades and then there are bad trades. The bad trades happened when you have to trade and you want to just trade and anything comes you go after. That could hurt the franchise. The real questions is what direction is the Flames are going? Are they going to be competitive or just blow it up and do a rebuild? A rebuild is where Flames will not be competitive for years. So That should be the real question and it looks like we don't know what direction the Flames are going. So if they do trade Lindhom, Backlund then that should be the start a rebuild.

  17. With how timid Calgary is when it comes to making big moves I believe it's the owners meddling with the team and not the actual GM's fault. Flames have a long history of being shy and timid during the times when other teams are making blockbuster trades. Bordering on mediocrity is a Flames specialty.

  18. If we lose Backlund, Lindholm and Hanifin for nothing then I'm going to be a little pissed off about being a Flames fan moving forward… this was the draft to make a trade or two and yet nothing happened at all. I doubt these guys are resigning with us. They worked so hard and had no issues with Sutter and a couple new players come in and whine to get him fired? Yet they were very unproductive players also? This is why these guys want out now. Backlund could get us a first round pick, I thought Lindholm could get us a top 5 pick at least. Hanifin should get us a good haul in return also. I'm also worried that we will continue to undervalue our player in these trades and not get a good enough return. Toffoli was an example of that.
