*LEAFS ACQUIRE RYAN O’REILLY FROM THE BLUES!!* (February 17th, 2023)

The Leafs take their massive swing as they acquire Ryan O’Reilly 50% retained and Noel Acciari from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Mikhail Abramov, Adam Gaudette, a 2023 1st Round Pick, Ottawa’s 2023 3rd Round Pick and a 2nd Round Pick for 2024. Also the Leafs sent the Minnesota Wild a 2024 4th Round Pick so the Wild can retain another 25% of O’Reilly’s contract!!

  1. The more I think about it, the more I like it. ROR can play either Top 6 or as the 3C, and Acciari will make guys compete for Bottom 6 spots.

So many options to figure out by the deadline.

  2. I like the deal. Still need a defenseman. I big mean one. Not one that thinks he needs to score goals, one that hits and beats people up. They have more than enough firepower on forward. We need a defenseman that tries to keep their own zone clean.

  3. o'reilly used to be good…leafs always acquire guys like this who is supposed to be a saviour…o'reilly is washed up…another 1st round exit (btw been a leafs fan for decades)

  4. You have to be tough up the middle in the playoffs to win and that's what this move does. It's a massive depth move and a guy who has some sandpaper to him but is hard working and can fill a top 6 role if an injury occurred. Potential he re-signs in Toronto but that's down the road. This guy is a leader and will bring some much needed depth. Make no mistake it's a big gamble giving up picks but Leafs have a lot of assets and they made this move without giving up Knies or any other big prospect. Consider as well they're only on the hook for 25% of ROR salary as well. I don't think KD is done either, I think they add on D but that means having to move someone out. Probably Engvall, or a Kerfoot etc.

    Kyle is all in.
    We're in win now.
    This is it.
    We're in the endgame now.

  5. and it is a bad trade. why? ror on a down year. 12 goals, 6th on the team and third last in +- on the blues.
this doesn't necessarily push this lot of floaters past Tampa bay, the premiere, perennial playoff juggernaughts, let alone Boston and our future has been mortgaged by Dubas trying, yet again to save his job by 'winning now'.

  6. Exactly what Leafs needed. If Dubas can find a depth D-man with who hits and plays a defensive game I'm liking them to gat past the first round.

  7. Toughness as well as skill πŸ‘Œ now we need a coach b 4 you young bucks cancel me my point Keefe does not get 100% out of the players scared of hurting therecfeelings can't get his divas up for lower seeded teams . You take 50 % of easy points left on table we are in first place overall πŸ˜€ wen the big boys take a game off no accountability do your fact checks first b4 u rip on me oh ya been a leaf fan 4 56yrs

  8. Personally love it even if he walks! We did not have to give up Knies! Look out eastern conference

  9. We needed to do this trade ,I love it we have to make a different look to this team.😊😊😊😊😊

  10. I had no idea the Leafs were in on O'Reilly but considering the trade is mostly draft picks, I'll take it and run. I'm a little disappointed that this probably means the Leafs won't be adding on defense but overall I'm really happy with this deal

  11. We just 'un-muffined' in the corners! now keep Murray on the shelf or trade Kerfoot get some stay at home, punishing D men and we will be a real threat in the 'yoffs for a friggin change. Sh%tcan Holl

  12. This is 100% a great trade for both teams. The Leafs have crazy depth and options for the coach now. They didn't give up roster players or what few top prospects they have, and they will recoup picks soon enough when they are forced to make some difficult decisions in the near future. You can bet that a big name will be shipped out eventually. Don't sweat the picks. I want to see a playoff run!

  13. Timo would have been a better fit. Watched O”Reily last night. He looked slow. No wonder he is -24 on the season. Last one back on the backcheck every time. Just cant keep up anymore. I sure hope its just the jet lag and his legs were not there last night or this is a big swing and miss.
