Why not the veterans memorial coliseum?

With the conversations of the team trying to find a home and mullet area a not being able to support them. Why did there have to be a feud between phoenix and the coyotes over the land. Because I had the thought of why not talk to the city about using the old and reliable veterans coliseum on McDowell? I mean yes it would need a lot done to it to make it support nhl standards, but it’s supported hockey before. Why not invest some money into it so if we do get new arena you can have one that seats almost 10,000 more in the mean time?

It’s just way too old; the amount of work that’d need to be done to make the 58-year old Vet up to modern NHL standards is…a whole hell of a lot. And at that point, you may as well just make a whole new building and just have it up to modern standards from the get-go.

  2. You been inside the Coliseum recently? Or been to that part of town?

When’s you last time you were in that part of town? 1995? Lol

Asu club hockey played there back in the day.

It’s old as shit. I love it but it’s just an absolute dump on the inside. Also the outside. You’d have to tear it down completely and deal with the fair. Otherwise I think the location is pretty good.

It would be a complete demolition and rebuild. It’s also the state fairground area and a huge fucking ghetto dump of an area

I’ve played hockey there! Can confirm it is possible!

This is something I’ve been wondering myself. Several years ago the Suns had a preseason game there, pretty sure Mercury had regular season games there as well recently.

It definitely needs some work but I don’t think it should be counted out as an option.

The people hating on the area or calling it ghetto probably haven’t left the suburbs since before the gentrification of uptown/downtown.
