First time I've ever caught an LOSP this soon after it dropped. Feels like Christmas morning…then I remember there's no episode on Friday.
I think Norris will be a key, but he isn't the master key. You gotta assume the top line will stay intact, but Norris and Batherson need a power-forward on that line. If Debrincat is paired with them, you have 3 players that are shot first mentality, and no one to win those puck battles and not have a 200-ft player on that line, so we will see the same thing we saw last season with the second line. Dorion needs to make a move with the Jets and get PLD. PLD would be a perfect fit to compliment Norris and Batherson. Much better than Debrincat and will come cheaper than Debrincat. If Dorion can make that move, that expectation for the second line escalates. If Im wrong and Norris is paired with Tkachuk and Batherson, then the line of Stutzle and Giroux will need that power-forward also, so PLD could be a great fit to either combination in the top 6. They should be far better 5on5 with PLD over Debrincat. Gauthier paired with Pinto and Grieg on the third line, we have to see, but he should thrive on that line.
A healthy Norris should be a big help to this team. Lack of depth at centre is for sure one thing that cost us the handful games we needed to win to make the playoffs
