isles need help. They got beat by the staal line, and they're lacking that puck moving defenseman. Canes gave us hell in the third. Tough way to get eliminated.
Does their 17-2 game 6 gome record include the 2020 playoffs? Because they had 2 game 6 “home” losses in that year alone.
Spare The Rod Spoil The Raanta turned out to Pan Out. Islanders had so many chances I was wondering why they couldn't get that 2nd or 3rd Goal. Starting Freddy really worked as I think they would have lost like 3 or 5 to 1 otherwise. Guy has a rough time on the Road anyways. I mostly was watching Florida game as I could see they just couldn't get that goal in. Saw OT guy I can't stand pulock or Pelock or those two always thought were over rated paid not clearing zone. Sorokin lets in a bit of a weak goal. Signing Stastny really has helped Carolina get into next round along with Burns. Devils I think will win as Schmid seems like the REal Thing the Next Marty Brodeur or least Sean Burke. Both teams had best All Time OT Post Season Win Percentage.
Islanders gave them a run for their money. Carolina was pretty darned good themselves this season; w/ the attention on Boston and New Jersey’s hot start They quietly excelled w/o the benefit of huge names (just ones known to hockey followers)
Very happy Canes won this game.
We do need more offense if we want to win Round 2 and beyond.

Pathetic just Pathetic Islanders u had most of those Power Play chances and couldn't score at all that's the reason u guys loss in OT the Power Play stinks to high heaven all season long Lambert needs to be gone and also GM Lou Lamerillo Islanders need to get younger and Horvat all that money and years they gave him he didn't do a damn thing in this series the only thing he did was score a goal in Game 4 when the Islanders was getting blown out
A bad turnover by Pelech in their own zone and a bad angle shot that maybe Sorokin didn't see as the puck went off his pad or skate that went into the net the Hurricanes had some of the luckiest goals in this series it's so pathetic

As a die hard NY Sports fan that watches hockey in the New York metro area as a local team Islanders got eliminated from the Hurricanes, I would like to see the other local teams Devils or Rangers face them I don't think the Hurricanes are that good
Also as a die hard NY Sports fan I wanted in the second round another local match-up, Islanders/Devils or Islanders/Rangers that would of been something in round 2 would be great for hockey in the area and the rest of the Tri-State Area
I will say this what killed the Islanders all season and the Playoffs is their Power Play which sucks to high heaven they had a couple of Power Plays in this game and they couldn't score any at all the Power Play is the main issue all season long one of the worst in the NHL
Glad we closed it out. Aho is an underrated star. No svechnikov, pacioretty, or Turbo is pretty wild. Don definitely didn’t have that on his bingo card to start the season. Gutsy, hopefully Necas gains some confidence going forward and Jarvis continues to produce and we get goal scoring going forward. Biggest takeaway is everyone chipped in Stasny, Noesen, Fast all played well this series. Slavin and Co. continue being one of if not the best blue line in the league.

This was the first time I watched a game with the MSG coverage. Godawful. I hope I never have to watch that again. The camera was losing track of the action, the announcers were total NY homers, just pathetic.
Canes did it. In a kinda relaxed fashion. Not that it was a sweep, but I also wasn't particularly worried about the outcome. Like, maybe a tiny bit after losses.
Losing Teuvo is bad, though. Teräväinen, Svech, Pacioretty… a lot of firepower is missing. AHLers are good fill-ins, though.

Pelech's turnover leading to the OT goal was just indefensible. Two forecheckers in the zone, his target is diagonally half the length of the ice away. I just do not understand what he is thinking there.
As for Isles, I don't know if things are that bad for them. Maybe they just got unlucky to face Canes. So, I guess next year will be one more run with minor changes?
I think Lou Lamorillo needs to wake up from his nap and find the Islanders some offense in the off-season.
Islanders really blew this series. They were the much better team the first 2 periods, and overtime and for some reason they just shit the bed in the third.
They gotta get a new coach for a new look because with their top 4 D, and sorokin, just 3 goals any given night is enough for a win, and they can’t even be bothered to get THAT. They deserved to lose
I don't think the Canes make it through to the next round, they're just too beat up. Possibly they can hold out long enough to get Teravainen and/or Drury back in the lineup. Teravainen was only ruled out for the series, not the rest of the postseason, so you never know, maybe they can put some extra padding or an air cast situation. I'd rather have him playing one-handed than not, his versatility and smarts are an important part of the lineup even when he's not scoring.
There are still tons of issues for the Hurricanes with injuries (and with Rod's zero-creativity coaching style), but the biggest takeaway is probably that Andersen looked fantastic.
Islanders need to trade Horvat for future considerations lol

Rod said it best, this was Freddie’s best game as a cane. The pressure of this being his first game with the chance to clinch and going down 1-0. This win was due to him.
But I would say that the most crucial thing is that the devils win, even if it’s in 6. Much better matchup for the canes and a lot better viewing for canes fans at PNC.

I had Canes in 5, and I'm thrilled we're moving on. But attrition is killing us. We were banged up heading into the series, and now we've got even more people out. I want to believe we should still be favored in the next round, but honestly I'm not sure we'll have the bodies to survive it. Here's hoping the adage that defense wins championships rings true!
It’s a shame that the Isles couldn’t beat this crippled Canes team that’s missing half of their top 6 forwards in Svechnikov, Pacioretty and Teravainen. Nonetheless the Metro looks weak this year with the teams in it and no WSH or PIT, definitely an Atlantic Division team is going to the Final in the East yet again this year.
