  1. Great BS rationalization by the commentor. He does everything he can to a avoid saying ‘cross checking’ to the face. He goes one step farther by suggesting that Lizotte was defending himself by raising his stick to the face.

Then, THEN cries because Lizotte was ‘jumped’.

    What a joke!

How about we add in the irresponsible doubling back by Lizotte for the nothing-tap on the leg?

    Garbage commentary and denialism.

Happens in all hometown broadcast booths but it’s especially bad in LA.

  2. Bro what is the announcer on? "Morrissey give it the okay we're gonna go up" what are you talking about? lmaoo he clearly drops his stick & glove for a fight then gets a stick across the face.

  3. You have been aggitating a guy to take things further. Then, when the time comes to fght, you cross-check him in the face, as he begins to square off in a normal fight, is as cowardly as it gets. And typical of kings and their jesters (announcers).

  4. This was not only a cross-check to a guy's face, but a cheap-shot at that, because Morrissey had dropped his gloves and stick – thinking Lizotte wanted to fight him after receiving his slash on the ankle.

  5. To defend Jim Fox's announcing: having listened to him for over a decade, he is definitely not a "homer announcer." As a former player, he cares a lot about the integrity and safety of the game.
That being said, here are two reasons why I believe he leaned towards defending Blake over agreeing with the refs on the match penalty:
    1. Jim Fox has said the hardest part of his job is seeing a play and only having 5 seconds to size it up to give it commentary.
    2. Blake Lizzote is not even remotely a dirty player and intentionally cross checking an opponents head would be way out of character for him

  6. Trash take from a trash homer. Morsy wanted to fight and lizzy cheap shotted him with a dirty cross check to the face. Simple as that

  7. The NHL is getting so soft. 5 minute major absolutely but not a game misconduct. Fuck Gary Bettman, making the game suck.

  8. This announcer sounds like he's trying to take Bostons Jack Edwards spot as worst homer announcer ever.

  9. "raise his stick to protect himself"WTF???!! the guy calling is a fucking joke .he clear cross check in the face

  10. Can we get a too many men penalty? There are clearly 4 jets deep in the zone, Morrissey on the ice and Lizotte got jumped by the sixth man. If the sixth man doesn't engage Lizotte, I'm fine with letting it go, but as he does, it should've been too many men.

  11. Mommy the mean guy tapped me on the leg with a stick so I had to shove mine in his face, he hurt my feefees.

  12. watched this live announcer is a complete joke. what a moron. how is crosschecking someone in the face protecting yourself. asshat

  13. "Lizotte was protecting himself." Now that's a creative way to defend crosschecking a player directly in the face. The Kings and their broadcasting staff are a joke. I'll be interested to see what the final punishment is.

  14. This must be a Kings announcer. What a fucking douche canoe. Morrissey dropped the gloves to have a tilly and Lizotte blatantly crosschecked him in the face. What in the actual fuck are you on about? Raised his stick to protect himself? Get fucked bud. "I think there should be something on the board here against the Jets." Like what? That obscure NHL rule that gives a player 2 minutes for blocking a stick with his face? What a homer.

  15. seeing this way too much lately. should be a 5 game automatic. if you're going to go out of your way of the play, drop your mitts.

  16. well Lizzote deserves every greasy crosscheck he'll ever receive cause of this. nhl players won't forget this
