The article is horrible? Can someone please explain what loophole they’re using? I’m so confused.

  2. justintime99420

If it was ANY Canadian team there never would have been a loophole in the first place. Looking at Bettmans face makes me want to puke lol

Let alone every profitable team has to shell money out to keep these guys around. Year after fucking year. All while they make 0 attempts at building half a team let alone a full on NHL team.

Now they are playing in a minor league farm house for fuck sakes. And the owner is thinking just hold on a little longer. Because him and Bettman are betting on Matthews heading home 🤷 won’t make a difference though. Stands will still be empty

So what’s the solution? ATL, HOU, or some large HOA in the Great White North?

Honestly start with firing management. New GM, Assitant GM, and sell the team for a new owner. Build an actual franchise, or at least make an effort. Free Keller bro, my poor dude.

  5. hotDamQc

Bettman keeping the Arizona shitshow alive while Quebec city has a state of the art NHL arena ready to go and fans to pack it up.

    The NHL is a disgrace.

  6. gohomebrentyourdrunk

This cap system is inherently flawed anyways, just do a luxury tax already. At least Arizona can make some money then.

  7. BigDaddyQP

Took me a couple hours to read that article.

  8. DeputyDangle19

You mean he’s going to have to maybe discipline his baby?!

  9. Flex1855

Good and close rge loophole that let’s injured players come back in the playoffs and put teams technically over the cap,if we’re gonna have a cap then have a cap from game 1 to the cup be cap compliant

  10. TexasYankee212

Arizona is a failure as a hockey team and a franchise. After 27 money losing years, it is Bettman’s failure that they haven’t moved to a stronger market. Excuse and excuse for their losing ways.

I think that teams have a cap and a floor and they should have to respect that, no more retaining salary when trading either. You can’t afford a player then it’s tough luck. I am happy for the Rangers fans, but they shouldn’t have been able to add Patrick Kane to their roster.

  12. Milestailsprowe

Let them be till the Vote goes off. If it fails then ship them off to Houston. Phoenix has a big population but that doesn’t mean they need all the teams.

  13. Phoeptar

That site is terrible, not sure where the story is compared to the ads, I’m fairly new to hockey and don’t understand what Arizona is doing 🙁

After googling if I understand right they take players off other teams hands that clears space for that team and allows Arizona to hit the spending minimum but they aren’t even actually spending any money cause the other teams are still paying the contracts?

    Why would they do this?

  14. Existing_Departure82

This is the ideal team to put in Houston rather than expand to 34.

  15. Yumhotdogstock

Yeah, I understand the math, 1 new fan in Arizona or the southwest is not the same as the established fans in Quebec City.

However, it is still a joke. You would have a stronger footprint and fanbases that would dwarf the supposed fans you have in Phoenix by moving back to Quebec. And rivalries. And you would sell, a shitload more merchandise.

Oh, ESPN, or NBC wouldn’t care? Like they do now?

We Need More Hockey Teams In Canada Market is Huge

  17. dmfc138

Yeah this is what happens when you have a shitbag league commissioner that has no idea what is good for the game.

We have helmet ads, jersey ads, floating ads on the ice, ads on the boards that constantly fuck field of vision, ads in between 8 second whistles, ads during the pregame and postgame on the screen, constant reminders that you can now gamble… but yet it is the absolute hardest it has ever been to watch a game out of market. You have Bally package? You need ESPN. You have Bally and ESPN? Yeah you need TNT. You have Bally, ESPN, and TNT? Yeah you need NHL center ice.

    Fuck this league.

  18. tsmithfi

I’d like to see Arizona move to Quebec

  19. Leading_Attention_78

    I don’t even care anymore.

  20. vbcbandr

Can the NHL return to 1-8? How do we make that happen?

  21. RaltarArianrhod

I really do hope they close the loophole because it is bullshit. The whole Coyotes situation smells of corruption and Bettman is right at the center of it. I hate that scumbag.

  22. sandysanBAR

I support closing the loophole of being a decade long dumpster fire with few, if any, consequences.

    That’s the loophole, right?

  23. Bigphilly83

Well calgary is not a losing market but yet we can’t get an arena built so we might lose the flames because of our government in calgary and Bettman not agreeing I terms

  24. pharrigan7

How about the Blackhawks who have been way more aggressive in getting rid of decent players?

  25. SellingMakesNoSense

NHL in Arizona is getting there.

The NHL is starting to get a crop of Arizona born players. Matthews, Tage Thompson, Sean Couturier, the Tkachuk brothers, and prospects like Matthew Knies and Jesse Yloven… the NHL talent is starting to come.

Get a full arena and a few stars in the building and the audience will follow.

  26. Hawksfan45

Damn it why can’t they bring back team to Quebec? But Atlanta again, what they’re going with third time is the charm? And Houston?Shit why not Wisconsin?

  27. Dewey707

Just want to chime in on the Bettman hate here. He is not the dictator of the NHL, he doesn’t decide how long the Coyotes stay, he didn’t pull the Jets and Nordiques out of Canada. The majority of NHL ownership thinks/did that, he represents the owners, he’s a lightning rod for the criticism that the business deserves. This is exactly why he’s been the longest commissioner of any professional sports league. Everytime he gets booed and made a mockery of, rather than the ownership of each NHL franchise, that’s him doing his job.

Not a Bettman fan, or fan of any of the league’s/businesses decision’s to chase money or lockdown markets, just pointing out where the fire should be focused

  28. stalinmalone68

I’m fine if a team does it if they’re in a total tear down to rebuild. You should be limited in the number of contracts and the amount of money though. On another note…If ‘Zona can’t get that arena going this year, just write off that place and move them to Houston or KC.
