The NJ Devils Plan for Prospects Luke Hughes, Arseni Gritsyuk, & Shakir Mukhammadullin!

The New Jersey Devils recently released information on some of their top prospects in the system and its very promising news. NJ Devils assistant GM Dan Mackinnon recently spoke on Devils top prospects Defenseman Luke Hughes, Defenseman Shakir Mukhamadullin, and Forward Arseni Gritsyuk. Mackinnon went on to say that once The NCAA season is over for Hughes he will join the Devils and see how the fit is there. The Michigan Wolverines are playing great so once their season end look for Luke Hughes to join the Defenseman core of the Devils.
Arseni Gritsyuk was said to continue to play in the KHL and possibly join the Devils in a year or two and hopefully follow the same path like Minnesota Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov or Vancouver Canucks Andrei Kuzmenko, where the grew there game in the KHL and Stepped right into the NHL and made an impact.
Shakir Mukhamadullin will be joining the Devils AHL Affiliate The Utica Comets as soon as his KHL season is over. He even said himself hes looking forward to coming to play pro hockey fir either the Devils or Comets once his KHL contract is over.
Can these 3 stay in the Devils organization or with the upcoming NHL trade deadline and the Devils in some heavy trade rumors for Timo Meier, will some good prospects be on the move.

  1. Muk=Graves's replacement long-term possibly, Luke=Smith's, Nemec=Severson's is what we all anticipate. The problem will be the growing pains when they do introduce them into the NHL. I think Luke gets a max of 3 games this year. I don't think he's ready defensively (and won't be for a while), but giving him a taste of really hard NHL competition just before the playoffs could be beneficial. Then maybe sending him down to Utica for the playoffs? I'm unsure of how much NJD will be able to absorb growing pains-wise in 8 weeks from now (especially with what will be at stake).

  2. Few yrs ago we had 0 defensive prospects outside of Reilly Walsh, now with Nemec Casey Muk Hughes Bahl, Ethan Edwards, we got deep real quick, if Holtzy can finally crack the lineup Clarke playing well this season and if Foote can b that power fwd.. this team is deep and fast.. Fitzy has a game plan and i like the future & Loving the now as well!!!!

  3. Sure Luke isn't gonna be a Scott Stevens lock down Dman and will have his mistakes but I'd bet he comes in a lot closer to how Makar did. Hughes will be NHL ready and on the Devils for the playoffs.

  4. When Marino is back and healthy the current defense will be stacked. If a couple of the Devils prospects reach their potential the defense could be legendary in years to come.

  5. I look forward to the prospects coming up the pipes. They will ultimately fit the timeline of the Devils (including Holtz).

This Devil's team has something special. I look forward to the future of Jersey hockey!

  6. I would love to see a line of Bahl and Mukhamadullin together. Just the thought of that is so imposing. Sadly, I would not be surprised if Shakir will be a trade chip included to acquire Timo if Fitz can get the deal done. Luke needs to wrap it up with Michigan so he can get some playing time with his brother in NJ.
