NO CONNOR HELLEBUYCK for the Buffalo Sabres as goalie future now looks cloudy

1. Gotta fix the lineup from Jarmos fumbling, if it works go get a goalie, too many holes now ,this GM is suspect even excluding the Helly deal. LYON coming back and UPL has been better last 4 games , U cant blame all goals on him, thats not right

2. I think you are 100% correct when you say Sunny must of either was told by ownership to get Helly or Jack Hughes told Sunny if they get Helly it would cement Quinn in coming there. This really didn't feel like a Metha trade but maybe he is a really good poker player.

3. If you really watch the games, Sabres are often outplayed by their opponents. The team isn't that good yet many blame the goalie. Levi would have been the same issue if he stayed. Oilers are outscoring their opponents so it's premature to say that Levi is some great goaltender. This team definitely needs a trade or some kind of a jolt because the way they are going, playoffs is a pipedream. Jarmo so far, has been sleeping on the job.

The unwavering loyalty for UPL is fucking insane too me, why are we so loyal too a goalie who literally let the game 7 OT game winning goal in and who hasn't bounced back from that STILL half a year later still playing horrible like what do they fucking owe this guy? It's insane too me they should have moved off him years ago in hopes too find a better more consistent goalie, they know and we know EXACTLY what he is and yet he still our goalie it's such trash

5. Lindy should never have been brought back. Apert should have gone with him. We still have poor gming, and ownership. We will forever be a joke of a team. We haven’t had a top line in 10+ years and everyone on our team would be second liners and under at best. Why we constantly sign unproven talent to these 7m deals is beyond me.

6. And Devon Levy is killing it in Edmonton. And we let him go for a bag of pucks.

   Kiko needs to go get a STARTER. Been for Saros for a longtime. Go get him! Give them UPL and Lyon, Mtrka, McLeod, Metsa, Carrick. Need more give them 1st pick. GIT R DUN!

8. There is no way Winnipeg would take McCleod instead of Quinn. Also, Ellis will never be the answer. Trading Levi and keeping Ellis was a blunder. Also Gustavsson is in LTIR and has a no movement clause. Saros has a no movement clause.

9. Let's get Larkin. That would fix everything. Dodged a bullet by NOT trading for Hellebuyck.

11. Every Sabres fan might have taken your equal picks as you said , but WIN wouldn’t. McLeod is sinking Kulich has health concerns- you don’t know that Chevy didn’t say Benson or Östlund or never mind. Helenius probably wasn’t enough at this point

As a longtime lapsed fan who went to games at the Aud, watched Hasek and Peca play, and stopped supporting the Sabres when they shipped Miller to the Blues and only hopped back onto the wagon in January of last year – I never watched Hellebuyck play until the Olympic break. The Olympics were very impressive, but his NHL season post Olympics wasn't very strong and I have only heard that he crumbles under playoff pressure. I agree that Hellebuyck would probably be better than UPL given a conditioning stint, but I don't think that he would have been a cure all for the weaknesses that we've seen in the first 12 games this season. Failure to clear the puck from their own zone, losing puck battles, and missing the net while hitting the most posts so far this season are all factors. I still have hope for a playoff berth especially after what happened last year, but the team still has quite a bit to figure out.

    I just hope Lindy gets his 1,000th here in Buffalo.

16. I think it's really hard to get a guy like Alex Tuch. How many wingers in the NHL are 6'4", can give you 30 to 40 goals and are great at the penalty kill? Not very many, if any. Buffalo had Tuch and Thompson, at 6"6. There's an excellent chance that Jack Quinn will probably end up signing with another team for next year. I've been hearing that the Montreal Canadians are probably going to try to trade goalie Montembault, so that's another option.

17. That whole THIS ISN’T A SERIOUS ORGANIZATION statement caught wild fire after Schopp said it. I literally seen and heard all kinds of people repeating the same sentiment. And to be honest? I feel the exact same way. And that goes for the Bills too. It’s just the same old god damn story year in and year out. We NEVER EVER have the people in place whether it’s coaching or front office wise that have the guts, intelligence, or balls to make the big moves. Example: If I’m BEANE Idc about my next 2 years of draft picks. Im getting a LB & CB/Safety to add to this D. I’m also DONE with the salary cap excuses. FIGURE IT OUT! Plenty of other teams do it. 18. The worst thing that happened to the Sabres, was having that magical season!! It basically gave off the illusion about the goaltending being good, when in reality it wasn't. That reality was there for all to see in the playoffs, when neither goalie played well enough to keep the net. Despite that, some are deluding themselves into believing, that the goaltending isn't the obvious weakness, that most make it out to be. Sure there's lots the things that the team can do better at, but having a goalie, who the guys have faith in, can go a long way to them being an actual contender. They can't do that if it remains status quo.

20. Listen as a devils fan I'm thrilled to have him. However several things either you didn't know or touch on was that he had a full ntc that he had to waive so it could have been the Jets wanted to accept Buffalos offer but he refused to waive to go there. It also could have been that they wanted a nhl proven player a goalie and a good to high prospect. There's also the fact that the prospect NJ gave up was someone the Jets had intended to draft if their intended draft choice was not available
