Really hope Hellebuyck doesn’t travel to WPG on 11/10. Have Connor start in Toronto on 11/8 and let him fly home to NJ while Allen starts on 11/10. Team is back in NJ the next day anyway.

From the Devils fan POV.. Giving up Mercer hurts a bit but he also hasn’t taken the next step that the team needs, and there are guys knocking on the door to take that 3rd line role. Gritsyuk has really stepped up this year and is appearing to be the player that we hoped Mercer would be. I hope Daws gets a shot in WPG because I do believe he’s an NHL goalie. Command is a wild card, he’s a bit of a controversial draft pick so time will tell.
But in the end the Devils need a goalie who can be consistent and steal some games. Hellebuyck can do that.

Connor Hellebuyck will wear #37 for the Devils. Tomorrow, Connor will make his Devils debut at home against the Kings.

I wish Hellebuyck and NJ the best! The Jets had to hold their nose – make a deal. And move on. The Jets are gonna survive this.
I do believe the league needs to look at how teams groom a player – take them to a top tier level. And all of a sudden. They wanna trade. Future player contracts should have a clause allowing teams 50% compensation for player demanding a trade. In short. If I am making $12 million a year. And I wanna trade. The host team gets paid 50% of your contract. Till it expires. That would change the water on the beans.
