TBH Tanev has been very average. RIFAI should be given a chance. He has size, great skater, younger, tougher and fights.
Tough deal losing Tanev, but we had to know that it was inevitable. At this stage, I just want what's best for him, and like Nick said, it was nothing as far as contact goes, but that old beat up body is getting harder to keep together. It makes me worried for his future in the NHL. As for the defense? It's time for John Chayka to do some cooking. We were already in need of an upgrade or 2 to the blueline, and losing Tanev turns the defense form a sinkhole to a black hole.
I believe Tanev was injured blocking the shot before setting up Cowan for his goal.
Gonna miss him big time!!! Would be nice to have Villeneuve available right now.

This is where Chayka makes it or breaks it…Leafs very average D is now even worse than it was…if the leafs want to make a impression they better get a stud 2 way Dman….front end is good, back end is awful, and just got worse. Better make a move or two because you aint going anywhere with this rear end.
