Everything you need to know before Habs vs Penguins

1. I think you gotta give young guys like Kappanen the opportunity to play .If a player has a lot of potential, it would be better to play him in Laval rather than have him sit in the press box . That goes for any young guy you are developing . You need some good 3rd and 4th line grinders for depth players that maybe don't dress for all the games .

2. I thought Newhook was one of the standout players against Toronto. When you take the time to really watch his play, he is one of the best on the team when it comes to the ability to anticipate the play.

3. The habs don't release Anderson after this season. There is no way. We are a young team and Anderson manages to have an impact basically every game on offense and defense, especially in the playoffs.

My opinion is that Newhook has earned his spot on the second line. Kapanen, they probably want to develop him as a center and playing with demidov gives him chances to score and such. I don't think he has the skills of Newhook though, the way Newhook separates and can create space to find guys. Kapanen being so young maybe needing some support to help develop and such, maybe it's a project worth undertaking. But I would rather that happen with Kreider going down to the third line and Newhook staying with Kapanen and Demi, and then Slaf on the first line of course.

4. Kapanen should play , he deserves a chance.i wouldn’t mind if Evan’s sits out, he is a veteran , but 4C can be handled by Danault, and 3C by Newhook

5. Sid 'The Kid' is just stepping outside his current club's fettering , towards his chances of getting picked up by the Montreal Canadiens at the Trade Deadline.
Latang has already expressed his interest during this summer's LSHL 3×3 tourney as well. As for Newhook , that 2C position is still his to lose as Kappie can be kept out of the line-up for one more game for health reasons. Why bring Oliver back into the line-up when he is still only 80% ready. Just speculating. Go HABs.

6. I'm honestly surprised there isn't an Anderson extension yet. I thought once he got the A they were going to announce an extension within a week.

I'm pretty sure it'll get done.

7. I really see Newhook as a 3rd line winger.
In center, we got: Suzuki, Kapanen, Danault, Evans, Dach [lots of people gonna h8 me for this one], Owen Beck.
Why Newhook on center <>? I really don't get it.

8. We're in the point of the build that all slots are looking pretty good, and I'd hate to see any of the core players go.

But if Sid wants a cup in MTL to finish his career in total GOAT fashion, I'd take a hit if we're excluding like our untouchables.

Wouldn't if we lose either Slaf, Demi, Suze, Cole, or Lane though. This has to be the best vibes team in the NHL rn and those guys played major roles in building that bond.

9. Thanks for treading water tonight Josh. Not much to report on today

10. Nobody in the bottom 6 is untouchable, in a big trade. I'm sure I smell something cooking. It may not be served up before the new year.

11. Kapanen is okay. The point with Kapanen is not whether or not he is a stars center. It’s about his capacity to allow Demidov and slafkovsky to do their thing. And in extra, kapanen is there to finish some goals sometimes or do great passes, slaf and Demidov are awesome when they’re with Kapy.
