  1. Boys – gotta shoot the puck on net and handle the puck so much better. When I watch the Isles, why do the passes have to be craddled 3 times before it's off the stick. You have to skating and accurate with moving the pucks to generate chances.

  2. One game is not a trend and DeBoer has to get a feel for his lines and D pairings. Toronto was going to be improved from last season and it was a tough test on the road as Toronto was also coming off a loss. The Devils game will be more telling. A shortened preseason certainly wouldn't help the Islanders installing new systems.

  3. Goals will come as they become comfortable with the system.
I'd really like to see Eklund on PP1 with his passing, vision and sneaky good shot. I think he and RItchie working together on their offside would work well together.
I think Barzal's seniority and strength as an offensive player for the team leads his teammates to defer to him too much…leading to predictable passing routes.

  4. I was at the game and was okay with Palat and Duclair out there. Duclair had some nice bursts of speed and was in the play. I just worry about him when the other team has the puck. That same jump isn't there. Is it because he doesn't confidently know where he is supposed to be jumping into, is it work ethic, attitude? Hopefully it's the former, which can be coached, but this should be standard operating procedure for a guy who has been around the league this long and played under all the coaches he has.
