Sad to see Knies leave Toronto but at the same time hope Marchenko is able to fill that spot and do really good with us wishing Matthew Knies a great future hope he does well over in Columbus
I love it! Knies is a big guy with a heavy body and can still score plus he is signed for 5 years. I don't know much about the other players but the 2nd round pick, which I think is a former Seattle pick so it might as well be a low 1st round pick that might turn out to be a good pick. It will be interesting to see how Marchenko handles the press in Toronto. They might make his life very tough. Maybe Mathews and McKenna will absorb some of the press' heat. For the first time since the collapse to end the year last year I am actually excited about this year.
From a Habs fan perspective this can’t be seen as anything but a win for the Blue Jackets. Knies is a horse and mean and provided almost exactly the same production as Marchenko, who didn’t want to be there. Combined with the contract difference, getting rid of 2 bad contracts and the extra assets, it’s the most you could have hoped for. Even if Marchenko levels up and becomes a 90 pt player for the Leafs, this was still the best you could have gotten for him. Good deal
