If the assumption is that Jenner, Sourdif, Frank, Beauvillier, Miroschnichenko and Brodzinski are the main contenders for the final three spots on the fourth line, then why not simply run a speedy 4th line of Jenner-Sourdif-Frank with Miro and Brodzinski as spare forwards, and then trade Beauvillier? He does have value around the league and he is in the final year of his deal, so we avoid losing him for nothing. Further assume we rest Ovi for 20-something games this season to keep him fresh for the playoffs and give more hardnosed players like Wilson and Tuch 6-8 games off during the season. Between these games and injuries that will organically happen, we should be able to slot Miro and Brodzinski in for 40 or so games each.
Waive Holl. Keep MacIlrath as our 7th d-man until Sandin returns, then waive McIlrath for Hershey.
It does work cap-wise. If Miro have looked decent, but not superb come the deadline, you'll be in pole position to recoup some draft capital for him rather than lose him on waivers for nothing.
