   Last season was lightning in a bottle, i don't think a surge like this can be repeated and now other teams are expecting them
   Unless Hellebuyck joins then, they're under and 5th

5. As a 23 year old girl and diehard lifelong Sabres fan who’s been used to sadness my whole life due to my beloved team, this is the first time I’ve been cautiously optimistic going into the season since I was 7 years old

10. An important thing to point out is last year the Sabres were not loser point or power play merchants. They stomped teams at 5v5 night after night after night. All the “kids” people are saying the Sabres are banking on (ostlund benson doan etc) have proven they are good nhl players. This team has had talent for years, they’ve been top of the league in scoring for a while. But Lindy ruff finally got them to play a more defensively sound style and they learned how to win. There’s no going back for this team. I think a presidents trophy is more likely than missing the playoffs for this team

11. Lifelong (like, Phil Housley and Tom Barrasso long) Sabres fan here: The margin for error is thinner this year without Tuch and Byram, but this is still a really good team. Problem is, the division is so incredibly brutal that a bad few weeks will be tough to overcome (and it's unlikely that they'll go on a magical run again this year). The split between first and fifth was only ten points last year, and it'll probably be just as tight this year, if not tighter. A 105-point campaign might only be good for fourth. If Dahls, Tage, or UPL miss significant time for whatever reason, they're toast.

13. People dont realize their offense has been elite for 4 years now. They were the highest scoring 5v5 team over that span. The defense/goaltending just finally caught up. They have more offense and defense coming too. Goaltending is the wild card

    Their Pp has been dogshit. It they figure that out even slightly theyll be a top team

14. They are good one year and a bunch of people immediately think they are amazing I'm sorry they are missing again this year

16. I'm actually more confident they can replace Tuch than Byram. That Top4D was huge for the team last year. Crevier or Zellweger will key in stepping up on the second pair and drive some offense. Having Power as a stabilizer opposite one of them should help. I say they take a minor slide but still end up 2nd or 3rd in the division in the end.

19. I think Montreal takes first place in the Atlantic, but Buffalo still gets over 95.5 points.

21. 4th and 5th place predictions are insane. The Sabres you're remembering who were without a doubt unsustainably hot last year only existed for 53 games while they went from last in the conference to first in the division. After 12/9, they played at a 128 point pace. ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT. They can drop 23 points off that pace and still be a 105 point team. Over, and 2nd in the division.

22. The sabres scare me, this is the same team for the most part that sucked for so long. And what if they just suddenly suck again for 0 reason.

    Buffalo was the best team in the league from december on.

    Outside of a hot goalie in the playoffs.. they were better than MTL by alot, but this is sports net so these Canadians are homers who are delusional so they will think the habs are destined for the cup.

    Sabres are nasty and will push for the division.

25. How's crevier is playing with power and zell is going to play with timmins. They had to go get Stanley and Schenn cus timmins was hurt

27. The reason Buffalo went after Hellebuyck is they pulled their goalie 4x in 13 playoff games. UPL was god awful bad.

    Hellebuyck makes Buffalo a legit Cup contender.

28. Buffalo doesn't have a traditional "3rd pair." Dahlin, Samuelsson, and Power will all grab extra shifts and pair with Timmons and Crevier. You will not see Timmons and Crev out together as much as you may expect. You'll see a fair amount of Zach Metsa as well.
