Mikael Granlund was named the 10th captain in Anaheim Ducks franchise history on Tuesday. Alex Killorn, Troy Terry, Jackson LaCombe and Leo Carlsson will be his alternates.
Granlund is the second Finnish captain in team history, after Teemu Selanne wore the “C” in 1997-98.

Nothing against Granlund. Even he seems very shocked. I just thought Troy Terry was the perfect choice. He's been here through everything. I respect the choice though.
Listening to Terry's interviews the past year I thought he was captain material too. But if they thought him captain, he would've received the C already (before Radko, or while Radko was injured). Obviously the locker room knows better so there must be a reason he didn't get it (though he's still an Alternate so he obviously has leadership skills). Grandlund is perfect imo: seasoned and respected vet, just captained the finland team to a bronze medal, captained a pretty down sharks team in the past. He's the perfect holdover and lets people like Carl$$on, Cutter, Jackson live up to the pressures of their contracts without having to worry about captain duties.
