An effective power play requires Forwards and Defensemen who are comfortable rotating down low and up high in the zone, movement.
The problem the Islanders have had for ten+ years is that most of the Defensemen are stuck defending the blue line and not trusting the Forwards to cover if they rotate down low. Schaefer is the start of a change to this situation
