I think considering the market this year, with what players are getting, 6 years at $13.5 is very team friendly
Looks like the signing bonus rule changes really helped push the number down. Apparently just over 69 Million of the 81 Million is in SB. Not possible under the new CBA, so looks like Cutter wanted those signing bonuses. Plus the NMC on his contract likely helped keep the number down as well.
Carlsson / Gauthier : 31.5M
Slaf / Caufield / Suzuki / Hutson : 32.1M
sourdif is worth it as a caps fan, i dont think a 4th line center who like jenner can play 3rd line as well for 6 or 7 million is an over pay in this new cap era. i was puzzled when caps signed jenner but jenner is depth at center but likely will only play wing. caps found out with pld being injured center depth is a priority. young pro is 3rd line center sourdif 4th l and jenner anywhere at center . young pro could push for 2nd line but pld is such a defensive center for match-ups maybe strome falls to 3rd line with ovi on his wing, interesting options and a lot of fun coming to caps fans , if logan thompson stays healthy its a cup run imo.

Gauthier definitely signed a team-friendly contract. He wants to win. He wanted to stay with the Ducks.
Ridiculous that people think 13.5×6 is a good deal. Both these are over priced. Gauthier had a great year, but small sample size. Anaheim is not going to be good this year, their D looks weak AF.

6.35 is probably double sourdif's worth at this point.
Because Sourdif is about to have a breakout year and then suddenly his price would be 10m. He has a huge ceiling.
