  1. That right there is an owner that either needs to sell the team or entirely remove himself from all involvement. He's drunk off of their historical success and lost all sense of objectivity about where they are at.

  2. Chris Ilitch the billionaire CEO that can’t even execute in a softball interview (which is like 90% of a billionaire CEOs job). How does anyone in Detroit expect him to execute in getting this team out of the gutter?

  3. I think that this is unnecessary panic. I don't think this is as bad as it seems…they weren't a bad team. They certainly need direction but if they get a good return from a Larkin trade, they'll compete.

  4. The end came when Mike Ilitch died. Chris Ilitch is the most inept owner in the NHL. How else do you explain leaving Yzerman in place for the draft? Last season, Yzerman had trades in place which were vetoed by Ilitch. But at least we have four Stanley Cups since the original NHL expansion. (Cue playing "Memories" by Elvis Presley as we fade out…)

  5. Chris Iliitch is a jerk and doesn't deserve to own any professional sports teams. He has made a mockery as the owner of 2 storied franchises, both the Wings and the Tigers. He should be boycotted indefinitely until he sells those 2 franchises to an owner who loves Detroit sports and will do what it takes to bring back a championship to the Motor City.

  6. Detroit sports fans NEED to fire Chris Iliitch and fire him fast. How? By boycotting his businesses and franchises, including Little Caesars, as well as the Wings and Tigers organizations, until he sells both franchises.

  7. They have done something….,??? Now they have a new problem….who’s going to want to be attached to that sh..show and do the lack of candidates who have stepped up to get the job already is pretty telling for me…

  8. Still quiet on Vladdy and the Jays, Jesse? Can't blame you after what Varland and Vladdy did to give the game away yesterday lol. The longer you go without addressing it, the worse it will look for you as a Jays fan because it makes you look like a bandwagon front runner

  9. Ilitch handcuffed Yzerman, and has shown exactly why Detroit has not taken any meaningful steps forward over the years. Glad Yzerman has gotten out from under that mess. It's also no surprise that their search has turned up nothing, because people probably don't want to go into that nightmare.

  10. So The Red Wings had no contingency plan in place? I know here in England in the football, teams have lists of players for every position & even to cover the sudden departure of Head Coaches so if for any reason a replacement is needed the ground work has already been done & a short-list is to hand. The Red Wings seem to have been caught totally unprepared & what are board members paid large wages for if not to guarantee the smooth running of the organization? They look very amateur at present?

  11. I'm a Red Wings fan and I don't believe Chris Illich statement for a second he is spineless and purely a product of nepotism and an example of why Nepotism should not happen. Sell the damn team you incompetent piece of human trash. That is completely disengenous. His responses are so smug. This is disgusting

  12. For those of us who are older , Chris Illich is the modern day Bruce Norris . He's a spoiled brat that inherited a sports franchise that his daddy bought !! Bruce ran the team into the ground during his ownership and Chris is repeating it !!

  13. I won’t be watching their games this season. They need to sort out the basics before I dedicate any more of my time. Not even a proper GM ? This guy needs to sell the team. He definitely doesn’t allow GMs spend either. Biggest joke in the NHL now- who would’ve saw this coming from an original six team
