I’m a sharks fan and I’m definitely biased but I think this team should make the playoffs. While I didn’t like the Nurse at all and the Trouba contract is pretty sketch this team is built with legitimate talent throughout the lineup and if they improve a bit they are set for a top 3 spot in this weak pacific division
I think the Sharks could make the playoffs, but their goaltending is a big question mark. They are fortunate to be in the Pacific.
Apparently San Jose was the most improved team in the Pacific over the summer. On the other hand, the Canucks were the second most improved and everyone else got worse, so the bar was very, very low.
I can see them overtaking LA in the division, but still missing the playoffs.
Go SHarks!
You're sleeping on chernyshov. I still think their best line is graf-celebrini-smith. It would be stupid to go from that line to cherny-misa-stenberg. And the third line is bruisers in sherwood-wenberg-marchament. I'm biased as a sharks fan, so Im very high on cherny. But don't surprised if the lines look like this in march. Hopefully we are fighting for a playoff spot. Can't wait to watch the boys again. GO SHARKS!
I work a job that i can listen to stuff at work and im still struggling to keep up with all the season preview videos dropping lol. I can only imagine how people who cant listen at work feel😂
Jesse is correct. All the young forward guys can take a huge step and defense can be better and grittier, but if Asky has the same year he had last year (minus November) this team may not make playoffs and if they do, I doubt they can outscore their problems. Being said, if Asky is slightly better than NHL average, they can make noise in the playoffs. Go Sharks!
The pacific is wide open, honestly doesn't take much to get top 3, I can see them making the playoffs.
Sharks gotta win some games this year. I think they can take the ducks spot
Stenberg is not a big boy idk what Adam is on about he’s like 5 foot 10 at most and not heavy. Theres a reason he dodged being measured at the combine lmao
Toffoli has lost a step since 2 years ago last year he couldn’t keep up with Celebrini anymore they aren’t gonna put him back on his line. They proved last year it doesn’t work
Should be a fun season for Sharks fans. Graf, Chernyshov, Misa and Stenberg are all unproven tho. Smith had 50pts. There is a steep drop off behind Mack.
WC2
Over, 3rd place, making the playoffs.
It will be 97.
Chernysov was missing from the puckpedia roster. He's likely 1st or 2nd line LW.
Cherny-Celebrini-Smith
Stenberg-Wennberg-Marchment
Sherwood-Misa-Graf
Toffoli-Ostapchuk-Gaudette
You can easily move any number of wingers around:
Marchment-Celebrini-Smith
Cherny-Wennberg-Graf
Stenberg-Misa-Toffoli
Sherwood-Ostapchuk-Gaudette
You can just feel the depth lol
Hopefully Misa earns 2C level ice time, as the season goes on.
And please, PLEASE, no Goodrow, no Dellandrea.
Turn It All Teal
I'm not sold on Misa, I like that flip to Hughes….
Adam has ducks 3rd and under and sharks 4th and over 😂😂😂
First game against the panthers is gonna be a bloodbath.
Trouba Ostapchuk Nurse Marchment Sherwood vs Tkachuk Tkachuk Bennett Hathaway Gudas
Toffoli is not going to be playing on the first line. Too slow. Stenberg may not be first line as the Sharks broke in the rookies slowly last year. Plus, he needs to adapt to North American ice AND the NHL.
I agree with SD that Misa is underrated. However, nobody is trading Hughes straight up for Misa at this time. The Sharks are looking for Misa to take a step up this year and ultimately become the #2 center.
The Sharks are essentially Montréal 2 years ago…lot of young good prospect and a core being assembled and they might be at the stage of first playoff appearance. Honestly solving the goalie situation will be the key to playoff or not cause they have good forward and defensive depth. Top 4 certain for their division if they solve it !
"You have to stick up for yourself." Look at Celebrini's response when Smith got injured by the Pens. He's leading the charge.
A lot of talk about the players having to win those late season games. Coaching needs to be held more accountable for the collapse at the end. Lets not forget this is a head coach that put out Wennberg-Ferraro-Liljegren to start OT against McDavid.
People don’t talk about how replete the Barracuda are with kids chomping at the bit for NHL ice time if anyone in any position goes down. Chernyshov, Gassau, Wetsch, Bystedt, and Musty are just a few forwards; Pohlkamp, Wallenius, and Verhoeff are waiting on D; and Ravensbergen on Goaltending mean if more than half the team explodes because the Panthers get bored one game, there’s still a ton of high-skill puppies who can make a miserable season fun again
That top 9 is so stacked. After Celebrini and probably Smith glued to that top line, the versatility of the rest of those 3 lines (plus Chernashev) makes for a lot of mix and match combos. Pretty much anyone in the top 9 or 10 could play some top line minutes at some point. Figuring out the best chemistry combos will be the toughest part.
There’s worse problems to have…
1. No Cherny? 2. Unless they face major injuries, take the Sharks over for season pts. 3. Playoffs will happen, question is how deep into them they get, and how high their seed is. Again, unless they get injured.
I'll never understand this middle guy's process. It's like he spells it out for himself, but then when it comes time to predict their pt total, he backs off and bets the under? All the reasons he goes into, yet he still "needs to see it first?" THAT is how to not win bets, and i'm not a gambling man, thankfully. Lucky on that one. But everything is lined up, he even said it, that THIS was the year they're not cute anymore, that things are expected…and he goes over the Sharks SILLY high-end depth. He goes over that despite being perhaps pricy, that the new vet toughness and D brought in will sitll be helpful despite maybe being overpaid. Sure, the Goalie issue is still there, but all of the above will help that, as will age and experience.
So WHY would you after putting it all together like this, why would you then bet the under when it's not that high and they get two more games? This is actually one of those betting moments (if i gambled) that screams out opportunity. It is EXACTLY due to "they haven't done it yet" as to why it's a good bet. We ALL KNOW they eventually will do it. And they've been very young, and now have more depth and vet's and now all of what he's said yet he STILL would bet the under?!
Again, unless the Sharks get majorly injured, or Macklin does (knock on wood) the Sharks will get more pts than that line is set at.
Graf is first or second line.
They were in the playoff hunt until the last four games. So I’d say that’s pretty much being in the playoff hunt.
Man how can you leave Chernyshov off this roster list ?
Adam literally picked the ducks to be third and said multiple times that only 3 teams from the pacific were making the playoffs then said sharks forth and that they will make the playoffs 😂
I have the Sharks finishing 2nd in the Pacific, and losing in the Finals to the Canadiens.
tell me you dont watch the sharks without telling me you dont watch the sharks. Cherny – Cele – Smith will be the first line.
Macklin does stick up for himself.
Chernyshov in the Top 6
Chernyshov had 19 points in 28 games last year. Played very well, and at 6'3" 200 is another big body on the ice.
