Quinn Hughes spoke to the national media this week and once again expressed positive things about the Minnesota Wild.
Judd Zulgad and Michael Rand tried to get inside Hughes’ mind while also reflecting on recent comments by GM Bill Guerin to assess where things stand.

Clearly there has been next to zero contract talks between BG and Quinn. BG and Brisson jave likely been hammering out some packages. Hughes comments to me were….I've been checked out, hanging with friends and family etc. Now that summers over well talk. He's surely media trained but I think his genuine thoughts still come through. Nothings for sure but It seem clear there have been no real discussions on a contract structure. He seems quite annoyed by media and fans dissecting his every move and basically gave us all a big FU from vegas. That said I give our odds of retaining him at 80%.
Quinn WAS available for NJ to trade for. They didn't pony up, MN did, and Quinn remembers that. The brothers will be united at some point, but it won't be in NJ and probably not MN either.
July 01, 2027 = All three brothers can play together, IN THEIR PRIMES. Central division is a dogfight. Going out East makes sense to become an immediate contender for the cup. There's a new GM in town and he has an aura around him, and hes making some good moves. Everyone is stoked for this upcoming season. Devils down thre Center is solid. Winning the gold did something to a bunch of the USA guys. That means, whatever Quinn may have thought prior to the Olympics, is good as gone now. Luke missed the Olympic window, and im sure it weighs on all of them. What incentive does Quinn have in staying in Minn? Jersey has it all, and its a 30min bus ride from MSG/NYC. BG knew in advance he wanted to play with his brothers. BG gambled. Not over yet, anything can happen.
