The fact the Blackhawks interviewed Eric Tulsky and chose KD is wild. Hopefully the Hawks can find a Tulsky-like GM in the future. They are becoming a meme for bad contract mgmt. Rooting for you guys to become a Western power again.

This has been my argument for 2 years now and the biggest issue I have with Kyle’s rebuilding plan. If they go make a blockbuster trade at the deadline, then they need to win quickly.

A team of EX Blackhawks, the top 12 forwards and top 6 d-men in goals scored ( except for last year, I had to add an extra defenseman because of all the missed games ) led the league in scoring the LAST THREE YEARS. Every team would have been cap compliant also. So I'm still pissed about that. And they probably still won't outscore a team of ex Blackhawks next year either. So I don't have a lot of hope ( Seth Jones ) that they're going to get anything right this time either.

Imo, if you can lock up any of these players for 5 or under to term, you jump at the chance. 5 is quickly becoming the rate for fourth line players. You run the risk of them having break out years with the short 2-3 year deals and be forced to lose or pay them twice as much. They will be easily moved, if needed, to cap hungry teams. By term I mean 4-5 years, not 8.
What about the kides. Some could be ready next rear. Your fixated that guys like Vanacker or Villinure wont be ready. We don t need Vets to replace the mediocre ones we have. Crev will be a RFA . Levshunov looks like a mistake more and more. Hope Im wrong. Theres no doubt getting Byram was the Hawks saying they dont believe in Levshunov. But hes serviceable is a 2nd liner. Rinzel meh.

the reason Buium was able to get $9m and not something like $6.5 / 7m is the same reason Byrum got $12.5… he's their projected #1 defenseman. theyre fully buying into him the way the hawks did Byrum. Arty and Rinzel are both not going to be our #1 d anymore since Byrum is here now, so I believe the most they are getting this next offseason is $6.5/7 like Buium was valued at…
