First time listening – just want to point out, they weren't found innocent, they were acquitted, and it was by the judge, not a jury.
The jury had been dismissed by the judge after a few members of the jury accused some of the defence attorneys of making fun of them. This tainted the jury against the accused with negative feelings. Instead of making the case drag on longer by selecting a new jury, the judge proceeded without one. It was the judge alone that found that the case presented by the Crown failed to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that there was lack of consent that night – not that she found they were untrue.
May not seem like a big deal in the differences of what you said and what happened, but it's pretty major. Acquittal does not mean innocent.
My short answer – No. There is not enough good about this player to negate the negative baggage he'd carry. I don't think I'd be able to back my team if he was brought onboard. It's hard enough to stay a fan with Babcock.
