Expectations are low, but they have Igor so that will help them win some games.

"0.3% voters said Cup for Rangers. Some optimism there…" 😂😂😂
Rangers have a production problem with underperforming players at the top of their payroll and almost no cap space or money to improve. In any given game, as goes Shesterkin, so goes the team. Ranking 30th last season, just above the Blackhawks and the Nucks when the former is just coming out of a rebuild and the Nucks are in horrible disarray with seemingly no plan for how to improve, one wonders how this assessment can be so hopeful. Like the Nucks, the lack of a real plan other than "These guys should be playing better" doesn't speak to a rosey future.
Time for another season of:
All My Rangers
I'm definitely optimistic. We're not gonna win the cup but I think we can at least make the playoffs if everyone stays healthy
Hey, your buddies at Fanatics just jacked up the price on jerseys on their site! Blank jerseys are now $200?!? Ay carumba! No real question here, just noting that going up 20 bucks seems pretty outrageous… Huge fan of your show, been watching ever since covid
Dorofeyev will be an interesting watch throughout the season, because of coming from a situation with VGK, where he blended in & went about his business , to now being expected to the main guy providing offense. Seeing how he reacts to that will tell you about which way NYR will go, this upcoming season.
A lot of your channel must be devils fans like me if they think rangers will be that bad. I have them fighting for a WC but probably around the 5-6 range in the metro
I have no faith on this team and if the western canada swing is dud and they are not at playoff spot by december they are done. The offseason is bleech meh and "FIRE CHRIS DRURY", he is safe because DOLAN! So yea I got nothing on em. MSG i am not going there because of the survilance state biometrics crap (see pable torre vids on the issue)
The game plan for the Rangers is for Shesterkin to stand on his head long enough for the opposing team to get frustrated and take a penalty, so the team wakes up and plays some hockey for the power play. Fox is a top tier offensive defenceman but he's been handicapped by team management not giving him a decent mobile defensive defenceman for him to play with. Pettersson might be that guy. Maybe not a good time for a repeat of the "No BS" shirts from JT Miller if he's going with the idea that backchecking is for losers.
I think a lot depends on breakthroughs or at least improvements by rookies (Perreault, Chmelar, Laba etc.), stable play by Zibanejad and Miller, Laf finally reaching that next level, Dorofeyev keeping his scoring touch in NY and how that revamped blueline looks when the puck drops. I know that's a lot of variables and as a Rangers fan I don't have any expectations whatsoever, but there is Igor and Sullivan is a good coach. They could surprise some people.
if you ever have the occaission and are in New Haven CT, I'd highly reccommend seeing Yale play at Ingalls Rink. It's an interesting building and a fun place to watch a game and you will likely be treated to a great game. Then either before or after, head to Modern Apizza and get yourself some New Haven Apizza. Perfect evening.
Let's go Rangers!!
Just way too many question marks for the Rangers. What does Lafreniere do with a whole season of a bigger role? Zibanejad-Miller as 1C & 2C might work on paper but does it actually work out on the ice, and what do the Rangers do when one of them gets hurt? The second defense pairing looks promising on paper-what comes of it on ice? Who wins the backup goalie competition in training camp? What does Dorofeyev look like on a less talented, less stacked team? Are any of the youngsters they’ve traded for or drafted in recent years capable of making an NHL contribution this year? I think from the net to their own blue line they could be noticeably better this year, but this forward group is a head scratcher.
5:57 some really bold stuff here
Not optimistic at all. At this point, I'd almost rather that the Rangers were dreadfully awful to optimize chances for a good draft pick. But as it is, they're "mediocre bad." They'll probably end up in an overall spot like 24th or 25th. Things aren't going to improve until Drury's gone.
2026-2027 team slogan: "No bullshit — we really mean it this time. " 😅
Love watching the tank job
There's a lot of hope pinned on the glimmer of life shown on the Gabe, Zib, and Laf line at the end of the season. If they get off to a roaring start of the season, Laf could finally break into being a PPG player.
i am 47 and a lifelong Rangers fan. my expectations going into this season are rock bottom. Lst year was the first time ever when I questioned my Rangers fandom. I have found that the team, the front office and much of a fanbase to be largely unlikeable. There aren't any players on the team whose number I'd get fora new jersey. I don't really want to wear NYR gear much anymore and going to MSG to watch them play is something I'd only do if i had a free ticket and a coupon for those chicken tenders. Should I be more optimistic? certainly. Objectively, the team is better composed this year than last. but I have zero faith in Drury. I actually think he is largely a hinderance than he is a help at this point. dolan is such a checked out dweeb of an owner and doesn't care about hockey. Mike Sullivan is Mike Sullivan who somehow left Pitt becasue he does n't do rebuilds and yet…here we are. JT Miller is a dumpster fire and still acts like a troll on 4chan and I absolutely hate how he was brought in and gifted the C by his drinking buddy. I hope they exceed my expecations. even with all the new pieces and shifts, I don't see them making the playoffs and if they did I'd expect them to be a 1st round exit. I can't stand any of the fan podcasts anymore, Vince Mercagliano is the only person who speaks about the Rangers that I take seriously anymore. The Rangers problem is that it is a business entity, not a hockey team. The purpose of the team isn't to win, it's to be profitable. Until that cultural framework is burned down and rebuilt around winning hockey games, the Rangers are going to meander on this pattern of big name overpaid signings to sell jerseys and tickets only to fall short because HoF goaltending didn't score us enough goals 5-v-5. the Rangers need to stop talking about it and be about it. until proven otherwise, they're soft and I expect them to fold at the first sign of trouble. On the brighter side, that kid Albert Smits looks like he could become an absolute terror. I bet when Drury trades him after two years and several back and forth trips to languish in Hartford he will become a staple of a stud D-corps for a team like Carolina or Dallas.
Not a Rangers fan, but I agree with Mike Bartner, I think Fox is overhated and underrated, and may indeed get flack just for being a Rangers defenseman, and what happened at 4 Nations
Go NYR!
Fox is a litmus test. Anyone who thinks Fox is "not good" is a casual fan, not a serious one. Casual observer misses what he does. He's pretty slow skater so no flashy highlight reel goals, and undersized, so no big crushing hits. All he does is play almost 30 minutes a night against the best in the league and is a career plus, and consistently shuts them down, while putting up almost 1 ppg, year after year.
Last season, Rangers played EDM twice, Fox drew the McDavid assignment. McD put up 0 points both games. In what universe does a "not good" Dman get to make that claim? He just got lucky over 50 shits?
I’m not a Rangers fan but that sweater is very nice
I would like to see a quick video just about the poll after the preview are done, maybe top 3/bottom 3 in each question or similar
😊😊😶🌫😶🌫
You 1000% need to get to MSG for a game. I'd love to hear your reaction to the experience.
Rangers fan here. I’m actually surprised the Rangers hated % isn’t higher; I’ll be the first to admit we do have some insufferable fans, haha.
I’m feeling optimistic about this season. All I’m hoping for is to be respectable and to push for a playoff spot. It’s not outta the question we make it in, though; I think the Metro isn’t a stellar division overall. Either way—LGR!
NYR might surprise some people this season low key the best chance to make it through metro 3rd I voted most improved easily
Hope you enjoyed NYC
Love the Nedved jersey.
Great goaltending. The defense is better. Questionable top 6. It could be a return to the Renney/Torts era. A grind-it-out style of play that relies on holding the opposition to 2 or fewer goals. If the Power Play comes together, they could give the metro a run. Otherwise, this is a borderline wild-card team that's not a cup-winning team.
Drury needs to be fired two seasons ago
I'm predicting the New York Rangers to miss the playoffs again this season.
Sully should've been fired for all those games he had Sheary in the top 6, even on the top line. Hated him in Pittsburgh, still hate him on my Rangers (Quinn too). Of course Drury signed Sully's old punching bag Pettersson when they couldve gotten Middleton 🤦♂️. Hoping Raddysh will be waived and Kartye gets bumped up. I absolutely love the Kartye signing. Really sucks to not have that 4th line that brought energy the past couple seasons. Im hoping Roobroeck can make the team and we can have a Chmelar – Roobs – Rempe line that provides a spark.
Last year we lost Fox and 31 at the same time right after the winter classic, and we tanked going into the Olympic break. Before that we were a fringe playoff team, I think at one point we were in third around Christmas. The team isn't as bad as they finished, as long as the top players (Miller included) can stay healthy
