as a diehard fan in ATL, I've resorted to buying a chromecast and just using onhockey, iykyk. every now and then youtube TV gets a Hawks game here, most the ESPN games end up being EDM
These people that are saying $20 isn't too much, are the same morons that think we should cuck ourselves to the Bears billionaire owners when they cry about the stadium costs…
CHSN was such a kick in the dick to true hawks fans who were watching from 2019-2024
Hey man few things I want to point out. First, NBCSN went away not because they couldn't pay the Hawks but because NBC is getting out of the regional sport network business. Second, the reason for the 78% drop was due to the channels not being on Comcast. Fuck Comcast til the day I die but let's not forget you had to have a Comcast subscription to get NBCSN which back in the 2010s was still over $100/mo. Love that you're bringing attention to this issue but let's not get it twisted that some of your arguments are patently false

Really spot on Lee and a great point in identifying the error in thinking ignoring the networking that having more viewers does for your business. The more people that see the Blackhawks obviously the more people that will want to go to the games. It’s crazy how this problem has evolved over the years.
At the age of seven in 1996, because you could not view Chicago Blackhawks home games on television, I wrote dollar Bill Wirtz a handwritten letter of disapproval. He had said that people who watched the games from home will not come to the stadium ..Thank God for the radio. And have been lucky to listen to almost every game even when I’m at the game I have an earpiece in 😂
They do run ads within the CHSN app. Fun stuff.
Danny Wirtz is looking a lot more like Dollar Bill Wirtz than Rocky these days. For anyone who forgot what that means, dust off ESPN's 2004 article. Dollar Bill spent years driving one of hockey's premier franchises straight into irrelevance. Some of the warning signs are starting to feel familiar again.
Facts they gotta make it free or do what Vegas does, somehow their games are playing on every tv last time I went.
ESPN+ with a VPN used to work wonders for me the first year of CHSN. Since the start of last year, ESPN patched it on iOS so it doesnt work. Seems like its gonna be another year with the 50ft HDMI connected to the pc streaming illegally i suppose. I’d pay the $70 for the year in a heartbeat
Sounds like a nightmare for local fans, that sucks. I’m from England, cost me £107 for the season (every single NHL game), I initially thought that was a bit pricey, but at least it’s possible to watch every game from every team including play-offs. Damn, they need to step up. We’re not even good enough to be charging $20 each month. It’s not accessible at all for average fans. It’s just greed, simple as that.

It's not the Blackhawks fault that people were too dumb and lazy to buy an antenna for the cost of 1 month of comcrap and never have to pay to watch the Hawks, Sox, and Bulls again. Instead they cried about not having the privilege of paying the evil empire $120 a month to the point where CHSN had to cave and give up the free OTA feed. I loved the season of Blackhawks hockey I got to watch for free.
I live in California and am able to watch most Hawks games on ESPN+ fairly easily. I only have issues when they play the Sharks due to my living in their "market". I said this on twitter but I'm gonna reiterate, pro sports leagues and teams need to be publicly owned, with major decisions being subject to the will of the fans instead of the desires of a very small group of incredibly rich and out of touch individuals and families. Most owners could care less about the actual sport, let alone the fans. Tax payers are constantly flipping the bill for new stadiums and upgrades, while the fan experience ticket and concession prices that make going to games an experience limited to the well-to-do, instead of the working class fans who make these teams viable business operations in the first place. The People's Professional Sports Act needs to be brought forth and written into lawwwww! Expropriate these teams from the clutches of greedy hoarders of property. Remove the toll booths and allow the sports to be free of the need to pander to these silverspoon donkeys!
I wrote a letter to Wirtz about this pay per view for the Hawks never heard a word back maybe he did not get it or it found its way to trash bin he might have a little Dollar Bill in him hey the Stars games are free to watch Rocky knew how to market the product you are 100 % correct alot of people have NO idea about these young players how do you build a fan base get as many Eyes on your product as you can hell put 10 games a year on W G N Dollar Bill killed his own product for many years and Danny is in his foot steps !!!
They already run ads so that doesn't really change the bottom line. Also take a look at YouTube premium, paid watchers beat ad consumers in revenue every time. They've likely done the market research that $20 is the equilibrium where the supply and demand curves meet at an equilibrium price. Not defending them, it sucks to need to pay so much to watch them each month but I doubt they're just bumblefucking around
I just use Uzzu instead. $130 for a whole year of every game from every team in all the major sports. Includes a bunch of channels like espn too.
I bought that dumbass antenna and it didn’t even pick up the channel.
Chsn is complete and utter trash. Its horrible quality and way overpriced. I got an antenna and watch it for free like it should. And you are 100% right they are screwing themselves finically becaise if they made it free to watch if you live in Illinois like it should be that would mean more viewership, more fans, m9re ticket sales, more jersey sales etc. Chsn is trash and i dont recommend paying for it. Get an antenna and this is especially concerning considering the hawks arent even good yet.
