HOCKEYTOWN is the fan base not the players
We will see if good to great players come with new GM if they ever get that done this don’t seem to have a desperate need for a GM
It's sounding more and more like Chris Ilitch is sticking was nose into the GM's business to the extent of vetoing done deals that Yzerman had negotiated. If this turns out to be true that would mean that we have a nepo baby who thinks they know more about hockey than Steve Yzerman. It also tracks that now Ilitch wants to hire a new GM/President that is a numbers guy. Chris Ilitch wants to be even more empowered to veto trades and be able to justify it with a spreadsheet. If the stories about Ilitch are true I fully expect another decade without sniffing the playoffs in Detroit.
I love it when he calls me stay shom.
Too bad ownership sucks
Larkin pees sitting down.
hockeytown was a phrase that mike illitich and his team came up with in the 90's when the wings were good.
I get that mntha. No deal in a vacuum. Wasn't a big deal but it was a pattern for ilitch to be second-guessing his general managers. No GM is going to want to work like that
Nobody gives a fuck about Hockeytown. Detroit is an embarrassment, there’s a whole generation of fans who have written off this joke of a team. And there’s no end in sight. This team is t turning it around for at least 5 years….at fucking least.
Hockeytown is Detroit as much as the State of Hockey is Minnesota. Mind you Minnesota has never won shit.
Do you guys watch hockey? Florida signed Sergei Bobrovsky in 2019, they also signed Brett Connolly (who was coming off a 22 goal 46 point season in Washington), and Anton Stralman from Tampa bay. They traded for Tkachuk in 2022, so no them trading for him wasn't why players started signing in Florida. Florida became a power house because they made Bill Zito the GM in 2020, and he performed a rebuild in a quarter of the time Yzerman was in charge of Detroit, and oh by the way led them to three straight finals appearances and two straight titles. Welcome to today's NHL, you don't build solely through the draft, the best teams were built through trades and free agency.
Yzerman made two good trades in Detroit, DeBrincat who forced himself into Detroit and Gibson who had a mostly great year last year. But at his age I doubt we will see a repeat. That's it, what were his other great moves? Trade Walman and Tarasenko for future considerations? He did a bad job, seven seasons in sports is an eternity he couldn't even build an average team let alone one that can compete. You want to be mad at someone for the state of the Red Wings, it's #19.
Fans? Are you kidding the new generation of wings fans do t know anything about hockey. Whats worse is the owners listen s to them
I call bullshit know one want to play for Steve Y he is a ass
If I hear one more statement about how Stamkos would have changed things dramatically, I'm going to vomit.
He is an absolute abomination 5 on 5, which I might add is the Wings biggest bane. Yes, he'll get his 30 goals, but we would still lose a majority of those games. Thank God Illich was asleep at the wheel, because it would have been a horrible overpayment with no upside, except maybe tougher losses.
And it's not Ta'chuck. The T is silent. 🙄
How are you going to attract talent to come hereLarkin is a cancer
Illich needs to sell the team
The truth is always in the middle between analytics and berween someone that understand the game (hockey person)
Listen to everybody speculate and go back-and-forth it's kind of like when ties come out they're either too wide or too skinny just stop following the tail wagging and the dog the truth's in the middle… Balance grasshopper.
The red wings will never recover from this in terms of the reputation.
So now how are they gonna attract the right talent to come here
Especially when I hear rumors today that they wanna keep Larkin Especially when I hear rumors today that they want to keep Larkin
He is not a leader he's more like a drama Queen.
Illitch needs to sell!!
…and Paul woods’ last year…just to pile on the level of shit taken
Chris Illitch is NOT a good businessman, his father was and is the only reason there were ever good times for the Red Wings /Tigers in the last 30 years. It's weird that when Mike died in 2017, both franchises went down the shi++er! It's all Chris' cheapness that is why we didn't get Stamkos or Mantha and traded away the best pitcher in the MLB. F Chris Illitch!
