  1. apparently jett finally had surgery for an injury he's been dealing with for the last two years, so with that and all the bouncing around he did last year, I think he's expected to spend at least most of the year with the phantoms and only get called up if it looks like it'll be a one-way call-up. bonk is expected to be on the team by the end of the year, unless he does extremely well at camp and starts the year with the team. with jiricek, he's definitely a reclamation project that they're just hoping they can make defensively responsible enough to put on the ice for more than just the power play, because it looks like he could be a pp qb (and their power play is so bad that it can't really hurt to try). they do love their reclamation projects! but drysdale really has improved a lot, and zegras, vladar, and dvorak all had career years after the change of scenery. lots of talk around michkov, but it looks like he's been working hard this summer, and he did train with a bunch of the russian nhl superstars for the russian summer showcase game, and got a a hat trick during the game. hopefully it'll be a bounce back season for him (especially if he wants a good contract for next year). I'm hoping bjarnasson does well enough that they don't have to depend on kolosov as the second backup, or that they get some news about zavragin's timeline moving up. but I have not heard any talk at all about klimovich, so unfortunately, you might be disappointed there, haha

  2. As a Flyers fan myself, I’ve been a bit negative about them and honestly wanting them to try and bottom out for a top 3 pick, though I am happy with Michkov and Martone, but going to the clinching game against Carolina and game three in the first round, I’m so excited for good Flyers hockey and I just hope they build off of last year and proactively build off it

  3. TK can definitely be a ppg guy, TZ too. If TK stays truly healthy this year and not just well enough to play, he’s going to be lights out.

Marty and Michkov are going to be great this year (I’m manifesting!). And Barkey and bump are the best young depth you could ask for in the forward group. Barkey is so smart and talented and other players don’t expect it because he’s small which really makes him a diamond in the rough.

I really hope jurichek gets it together this season and is the ppqb we’ve been needing.

And I hope Joey Woll and Simon Benoit have great years in a hockey town that is not THEE hockey town.

  4. They get back in and now we have an even more unhinged Gritty. I think they do about the same and it is enough to return back in. 3rd in the Metro with 95-100 points.

  5. Thankyou! You’re a wise fellow, I won’t mention the channel name(s), but there are a few specific Flyers channels that every headline is something like, “This is trade changes everything, Briere is cooking.” – it took about 3x before I never clicked one of their vids again.

  6. It wouldn’t shock me if THG made a video talking about the most loved/hated stats and the most loved are all the teams with the biggest fanbases, but not in particular order because this is a THG subscriber vote not a all fan everywhere one.

As for most hated, my best guess is that all established rivalries, especially the old ones would be first … and the least hated are teams that haven’t established any like Utah or Seattle … and teams so bad for so many years that their usual haters feels apathetic instead, also small markets obviously.

  7. Flyers fans are a different breed, incredibly unappreciated. For all of their lack of success and tough times, the ex-players are extremely loyal to the organization, and that is because of the culture and the fans. The next time the Flyers win the cup, the roof will blow off the entire city. LGF!

  8. Even though I would call it cautious optimism I haven't been this optimistic about a Flyers season in a good while. If the Vladar can duplicate last season and with Woll as a competent backup I think the team can make it into the playoffs. It all starts in the nets, good goaltending can makeup for deficiencies in other areas. I do agree with you that lack of center depth could derail an extended playoff run. It should be a fun season and the fans seem reenergized as the arena was rocking in south Philly for the first season in a while last year.

  9. What little success Tocchet had was largely due to the culture put in place by Tortorella which helped the Flyers make something of the regular season despite poor coaching which in turn doomed the team in the playoffs. Tortorella is a major jerk to players but he gets results. He's always been that way and as he ages it becomes more obvious he has no time for fools and doesn't suffer them gladly or otherwise. The OT Loss points are what got theminto the playoffs last season and the never give up attitude Torts instilled in the players stuck long after he was let go. I'm guessing they hire Tocchet because they wanted a legacy player the fans would accept and they plan on a full rebuild and need a scapegoat. Tocchet was a decent player, long career, multi-year All-Star, but as a coach his success with the Pens was due to the players, not his assistant coaching, and his record as a head coach is more miss then hit.

  10. Mich is due for a BIIIIG season, I think it’s probably not quite make or break, like if he’s still putting up ~30 goals or 60pts, he’s not going anywhere, but if he regresses again, it could mean a little more, I’m a Huuuge Michkov fan, I want him to succeed very badly, let’s see if he can do it

  11. Michkov is playing for a contract and his future. Look for him to have a monster year . Martone is the Calder favorite. Zegras needs to get tougher. And Tippett needs to hit the net more.

  12. I assure you Pittsburgh is NOT our “brethren”. Unlike the other sports teams who have Pennsylvania neighbors that they get along with, the Pens & Flyers do not get along.

    Never have.

Now The Hockey Guy knows that. 😎

  13. How fun was it orange and black being in the playoffs with Danny playoffs as GM. Taco and coach. Ziggy was electric. Vlastar brought a light. Young talent getting chances and looking great. Also in Philly we will love you and hate you fairly. If we put in that effort you are a lifer.
