The Flyers have reportedly kicked the tires on New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov. The 26-year-old Russian blueliner is available before his no-trade clause kicks in on July 1, 2027 — and with the Islanders rebuilding around Matthew Schaefer and a deep prospect pool, they’re entertaining trade offers right now.

Coming off a major surgery – pass
Romanov’s contract is very reasonable when you consider Bowen Byram just lifted the cost for all young T4 dmen going forward. You just won’t see U30 dmen with a proven ability to handle 20+ min workloads signed for less than Romanov anymore. Not to mention the dude is a real pain to play against.
There will be plenty of teams running for him by the deadline. I think Isles would/should be very open to trades given they’re bloated at LD as mentioned.
If GMDB wants him, he needs to make a compelling offer before the deadline, before prices go sky high and before Isles opt to keep him out of their own division.
Nah, if we trade a player like Barkey, the Islanders will have to owe us a couple picks to make it happen.
Flyers have McDonald who has size and toughness which this team is severely lacking
He lines up nicely age wise and the Flyers are light on the left side. Trade Risto for assets now or at the TDL so Bonk can cook some more in the AHL.
